DD is 4.8 and non verbal. She may or may not have ASD, no dx yet though we are due to see paed again in a month and will ask for referral to panel then.
I just feel totally hopeless, she attends a special unit within a ms school for observation and will be referred elsewhere from there. We don't know where. She has been there since feb and I don't know whether I was expecting a miracle but she seems to have made little progress.
We don't really have much support tho SIL does her best to babysit so we can have a bit of a break. My family are no help.
I don't really know what I'm asking, does it get better? Will she ever speak?
Sorry, just having a Sad day.

sorry you are feeling so down today. I have two dc with ASD and found I felt better when I got busy pushing for help for my dc. The school should be doing more than observing they should be intervening to try and help her make progress. Does your dd have a statement?

dd didnt speak at all really aged 4. whilst it is still very limited she has made some progress and can say lots of single words and has come on massively with her understanding of language. I have however found that people have very low expectations and it has been up to me to fight for suitable provision.

It's disappointing that you have no diagnosis at 4.8. What is happening in the Unit on a day to day basis though ? What are they teaching her and what are their expectations ? What are the teachers saying to you about her education after the 'observations' have been made ?
