Hi, been a tough week here.
DD (2.5 with Down's), was rushed to hospital last weekend. She spent 4 days in an isolation room whilst they pumped every type of antibiotic into her. Thankfully she has responded well to the antibiotics and the hospital allowed her to come home wednesday night to finish her antibiotics at home.
This is the 2nd time this month she's been hospitalised, Although the last time was only for a day for observations for URTI. On top of that, we're in the middle of trying to get DD statemented, so it's been a fairly stressful month!
Anyway, we're due to go on a cruise to Spain & Portugal on Tuesday (leaving from Southampton, so no flying involved). Her consultant & GP both think it would be good for her to go, as she would have finished her final course of penicillin by the time we go & the ship has a full medical team. They've even given us an emergency supply of powdered penicillin to give the ship doctor on the off chance she relapses.
I agree we really could do with some quality family time, away from all the hospital appointments, but I'm really nervous about taking her out of the country given how ill she's been.
I was wondering what you would do, would you take her on holiday?
