Following on from lovely photo thread from rebl, I thought I would do a lovely thread about what are kids ARE good at.
Personally DD1 is a wonderful watercolour artist (pic on profile), DD2 is a great little singerand makes me laugh every day smile

Lovely idea smile.

My ds is a brilliant photographer. DD is a great actress (sometimes not good skill as she gets out of school by pretending to be ill very well!!) and has excellent story making skills and makes me laugh with her stories.

Well my son can't sing or dance or act or draw or take photos and he struggles with nearly everything in life.. but he accepts absolutely everyone exactly as they are, makes no demands and sees no bad in anyone.
His autism has given him many things, his learning difficulties make him a dependent young man, but his lovely nature endears him to everyone he meetssmile

( his obsessions however drive them mad too grin) So he's just good. No talent, just a really really good soul.

Hoping this link works. Little clip of dd2 singing and trying to play piano here

Love the video, she's great! smile

DS can count to 100+, tells the time, loves shapes and letters. He can work the laptop better than me. smile He's 4.

He too is a happy smiley child who wins hearts, there is talent in that.

This is a good thread.

DS1- speaking. Not just on a loop about yugi-oh <argh> but more formal stuff, and making necklaces. He's my mate and when no other kids are about brilliant company.

DS2- singing, sang with male voice choir a few years back but school choir closed sadly. drame / making people laugh. He's a caring soul, not academic but a good egg. Whereas ds1 dances, ds2 entertains.

DS3- DS / PC games. But mainly being my little angel child: happy, good natured, ray of sunshine.

DS4- erm throwing things at people. Quite good at gym and my friend who is a footie coach says he is a natural but we're not a footie family.

DS is a good dancer and is Lady Gaga mad. He copies her routines on videos spot on even the curvy swings lol He changes dance mood with each song and has excellent rhythm and timing.

Loves sitting in the garden strumming his guitar (learning to play with mum) very morose blues songs he makes up smile

One of his other pastimes is plate spinning (circus tricks) and will stand for hours spinning a plastic plate on a cane grin

DS 1 - absolutely brilliant with junk modelling, patterns and generally anything crafty!

DS 2 - absolutely brilliant at winding up DS1 without even trying lol

lisad123 your dd is so cute, how adorable, i want one grin

Chundle Thu 06-Oct-11 07:40:00

Dd1 football star in the making

Dd2 record for being able to spit the furthest in future years I believe smile oh and she loves jumping!

used2bthin Thu 06-Oct-11 19:44:25

DD is very good at puzzles. And picks up some new physical skills quickly-she watches carefully and does exactly as she sees things being done.

MangoMonster Thu 06-Oct-11 20:06:03

Lovely idea. My ds is really good at using feel to compensate for his lack of depth perception. He's really careful not to do anythig dangerous and can do stairs both ways and steps he knows about. Takes careful planning which is great for a 2 year old.

MangoMonster Thu 06-Oct-11 20:07:31

He's also really good at making eye contact with people and charming them with his smile when he wants to smile

zen1 Thu 06-Oct-11 20:16:50

Nice thread smile. DS3 (2) is good at shapes, naming Thomas trains and knowing where he is geographically (only has to go in the pushchair / on the bus somewhere once and remembers how to get back there again).

RinkyDinkyDoo Thu 06-Oct-11 20:28:55

DS is 4.5 and is the best cuddler I know. He's great at making me laugh(even when I'm a bit cross with him),he's got a lovely singing voice, is very agile, bloody fantastic climber!!!!,a super fast runnerwink and a great trampoliner. He's my little star.

My dd 11 is a great writer and would love to be an author smile. She has written two sequels (Coraline 2 and The Nightmare Before Christmas 2) and is Tim Burton and stop motion animation daft! She does need something to work from but her writing (typing!) is far superior to her verbal ability.

Ineedalife Thu 06-Oct-11 22:08:59

Dd3 is a lovely singer, she sings all the time when she is happy.

She also has an amazing memory, she is a fab shopping list memorizergrin.

chuckeyegg Thu 06-Oct-11 22:20:14

I could do with a shopping list memorizer. That's a very useful talent. smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname Thu 06-Oct-11 22:25:32

DS2 is (obviously) very good at computer games. wink But he amazed me at age 7 when he read an origami book at school, came home and made dozens of origami cranes. One was screwed up and when I asked why, he said, "I made a mistake on step 16!"

akaemmafrost Thu 06-Oct-11 22:32:41

Ds knows the London Tube Map by heart. He can tell you which line any tube station is on, he is 8. It's actually very handy.

Agnesdipesto Thu 06-Oct-11 22:48:53

DS can count to 100, write, say and label every letter and its sound, sing loads of songs, memorise huge chunks of language and entire books, remember places and find his way back, see sideways without turning his head (particularly useful for spotting lifts, automatic doors and escalators), use the computer, ask for cuddles / be really cute when he is trying to get out of doing any work, get loads of strikes on wii bowling, sound out songs on a xylophone. He is 4.

Tim Burton is almost certainly an aspie (according to his wife anyway)

sphil Thu 06-Oct-11 23:00:13

Ds2 is very good at YouTube and seat drops with crossed legs on the trampoline. Tried both simultaneously once (with the iPad) grin

anonandlikeit Thu 06-Oct-11 23:05:11

ds2 is very good at being gorgeous & also very good at being very good, i almost never have to tell him off as he hated breaking rules.
Wish his NT brother had a little bit of the rule loving trait grin

signandsmile Fri 07-Oct-11 07:56:08

ds can do more on the computer than me, grin blush. He sings to himself beautifully, (all nonsense, but v cute). and Music therapist says he has real musical talent, (where did that come from????) and has the cutest cheeky grin. PS I am loving this thread, grin

davidsotherhalf Fri 07-Oct-11 10:04:27

my dd is brilliant at maths, from the age of 3 she could tell me if they overcharged me at the supermarket, she works my shopping bill out to the penny and she will tell the checkout person if it's wrong, but the one thing she's brilliant at is fluttering her eyelashes at my dp saying daddy darling can i please have ??? and it works every time....never works when i do it lol....dd says she's going to teach me how it's done
