I think I need a cuppa after all the excitment this morning . My ds's safe bed has at last been delivered and fitted. We've been waiting for it now for nearly 3 months and at last its here. I've got to go and get some material to make some sheets but he's going to love it. They've even made a tent to go over it which he's going to absolutely love. I'm actually looking forward to him not hurting himself at night now. Lets hope he stays in it but as DH says, we'll make sure he's in it when we go to bed and thats a good start.
And then, as the guy who fitted the bed was leaving the postman came carrying a letter from the DLA. Ds's has had his award reviewed like we asked for and they have uped his care rate to high rate and his mobility rate to low rate. Exactly what everyone has said that he's entitled to. All without any sort of fight . I'm so pleased we went ahead with it now, we had procrastinated over getting it reviewed because we were worried about loosing what he already had but it was definatly worth it. With the back dated award we'll be able to get the back of the house made safe for him, its the exact amount we've been quoted!
I'm so happy this morning over it all I could cry . I'm ignoring the fact that it would be nicer to not have to have all these things and ds not to need them but life is the way it is and I love him all the same, if not more sometimes and these things will make life just that little bit easier for him (and therefore us) .
