Morning everyone!

Firstly for those of you who don't know dd is 4.10 and has possible asd. Mainly social and behavioural issues. She wants desperately to make friends, but struggles. Her first party invite was around this time last year and it was fancy dress. She was all dressed up like a princess ready to go when she had a major meltdown and we couldn't get her out the door. She really wanted to go but she got herself so worked up it wasn't possible. So obviously that was really disappointing. I even shed a few tears when she got the invite. Never thought it was going to happen. I'm sure most of you can relate to that feeling.
So, she got her second invite a few weeks ago and the party is this weekend and what do you know............. she's got chickenpox!!!angrysad

It's just so sad. I know everyone in her class will be talking about it when she hopefully goes back next week and she'll be so upset and left out. Which, to be fair she is most of the time I think.

I know i'm not really asking for advice here. I suppose I just wanted to hear from someone who understands the feeling. I know obviously there are much more difficult things we have to deal with, but this for some reason has really upset me.

If it is any comfort at this age come Monday morning the party will be history and hardly mentioned.

What a shame. sad Hopefully she'll get some more invites. Maybe you can promise to take her out for a treat when she's better so she has something to look forward to.

Thanks for responding.

I know it's not the end of the world, but it's just such an anti climax I suppose.

I know there have been many parties of children in her class that she hasn't been invited to and everyone else seems to have been. Obviously i can't be annoyed at the children, but it still hurts. I'm sure she's picking up on it. She very often will say that nobody likes her and call her stupid or weird sad It's utterly heartbreaking.

I have actually offered her a big treat for when she's better. Right now I think we're both going stir crazy. There's only so many cakes you can bake before you start losing your mind grin Or maybe that's just me.

On the up side though she's learnt how to use our computer for her maths and painting games.smile She's becoming quite a little pro now bless her.
