Moved county - how long should it take to get a school place sorted?

Contacted old and new counties before exchange giving full details and understood that nothing could be put in motion until exchange of contracts. We exchanged 3 weeks ago and ds is climbing the walls as obviously has not been at school since July. He has a 22 hour statement and when I first queried what was happening was told that school was querying the funding. SEN case manager advised that they could not refuse him for that reason and would chase them up. I keep chasing and keep being told that she and school Senco keep 'missing'each other Hmm. Then I called again today and was told she was just about to call school to chase them Hmm. I asked how long it should take to arrange a place and was told that it could take 'quite a while'. Has anyone been in this situation - should it take weeks to arrange or am I being messed about?

Thanks.Yes,they were sent a copy of sm a while ago. Will try chasing again on Monday - I was promised an e-mail this afternoon but, as expected, not received anything. Wondered if there was anything I could quote at them to show them I'm not going to be fobbed off.

There are 2 admissions experts (admissions and pr47bridge) that hang round in the primary ed and education boards. I'd start a thread over there for them.....

tell them you will contact the local gov ombudsman to ask them to advise you on timeline for getting a school placement, it might get them moving, i did that a couple of yrs ago. do you have a letter stating they have received statement and looking for a school? if so what date is on the letter?
