DD is Dyslexic and has severe Auditory Memory issues so will have a statement when she goes to secondary school next year. (it's being written now)

Does it make a difference when picking a school? I have heard that having a statement will make it easier and basically give me our pick of schools despite over subscription and a lottery system.

And also - is there anyway to see what kind of SENCO department a school has or will I need to ask them directly?

I'm so nervous about picking the right school for her. She just wants to go where her friends are and luckily, this school has a good reputation generally but I'm not sure about the added support she'll need.

It's like you said. You can choose any school you want to go to. So you just need to decide which is the best school for your DD.

Any schools which you are interested in you need to make an appt with the SENO and discuss what help they can give her.
