Aaaarggh - Nanny problems

Bloody hell. I just found a great nanny a few weeks ago. And she's just handed her notice in because she couldn't find accommodation near us :(

I'm absolutely gutted. She was really good, and the kids had really bonded with her.

I can't believe she's done this :(

Oh no! How awful. Did she always need to find accommodation, or was this an issue you were not aware of?

It is so difficult to find people sometimes; we searched for ages, and have had a few false starts.

She was going to flat with another student, but the other student let her down last week, and so she was left with no one to flat with.

I'm sure she could sort this out if she wanted to - but she's chosen to flat with someone in a diff part of London and says the commute to me would be too much.

However - while looking after my kids for the last few weeks of term, she managed to get a 1:1 TA job at my kids school - and she's going to keep that. So it's all a bit weird really :(

I'm gutted.

So she can commute to your children's school but not to your house?

Sounds very strange and really just that she wants to be a TA and not a nanny. Really sorry to hear this :(

sorry to hear this Indigo, I know you were really pleased with her. Strange she can commute to the school and not to your house, I know this things are awkward but have you tried a conversation is there anything that contributed to that decision?

She's going to be moving south of the river, so wants to finish at 3:30 and not 7:30.

I think this is really going to bite her, because the HT knew she was my nanny, and will find out (from my kids) that she quit..... And really for no good reason. The hours haven't changed since she took the job.

It's a crazy decision she's made to take a flat which means giving up her job - but nothing I can do. I have offered her lots of compromises - and even a pay rise.

Even worse - DH's job will probably finish in Dec. So don't know what we'll do with our new nanny in Jan :(
