Well it's here, labelled a proposed amended statement

But from this moment onwards known as a crock of shit (COS for those of a more delicate disposition)

So the COS has of course named the mainstream sixth form and replacing the 1 to 1 support by autism specialist TA and has decided 30 hours TA support working on advice from teachers (not even from the head of the unit) and 3 visits from Autism outreach a year. (Our autism outreach is rank tbh and will no doubt advise a visual timetable as that is the mainstay seemingly advised to all and sundry)

Then the mainstream sixth form is to provide opportunities for college access and work experience (it's a sixth form, it provides the standard sixth form courses so A levels and BTec. They don't work with college, if a sixth former wants college courses they go to college. Neither do they do work experience placements because sixth formers wanting work experience generally get themselves a part time job)

The mainstream sixth form is to provide a comprehensive like skills programme (again the sixth form caters for the more able 16 to 18 year old and certainly doesn't have the facilities that will allow ds to learn to cook, clean, self care etc and I'm not sure that the TA's who want to support a sixth former will have signed up for basic living skills)

So basically (because there's more and more and more but you'll get bored) they've placed ds in a mainstream sixth form, made his objectives more in line with a special school though with an off the cuff acknowledgement that he is to achieve accredited qualification there as well.

Sent to solicitor, the school, head of the unit and LGO. I'll get it on paper tomorrow and go through it properly then though as am too stressed today to dissect it sad angry

It sure as hell hasn't been worth the eight month wait following AR anyway.

Oh. Sure. But it is only what you expected right?

SO sorry though. Still horrible to have your hopes dashed and evidence of another few months of war.

Yes I expected it and to be honest it's so bad it's made me laugh because they've barely made the effort to make it look like a statement that the placement could fulfil.

There's a quote from ds in there which is his stock response to anything to do with school "SHOCKING" have to say it sums the whole lot of it up accurately grin

Sorry, insanity. Well, at least as it's so shit you have good grounds for appeal/tribunal. Hopefully.

It is actually so shit that I would hope that they'll be embarrassed to submit it to Tribunal. It's more a lets get the Judicial Review off the cards rather than a serious effort at issuing an amended statement. I do like though that they have put in a lot of the stuff that the independent special school would provide so they have accepted that ds needs what they provide it's just that they have decided that a mainstream placement could do it without the specialist expertise and resources at the same time as putting him through his A levels confused

It's the time wasting that's so bloody awful. Hope you get it sorted before Christmas.

Hooray today my solicitor after pointing out all their errors (and there are many) and enclosing documentary evidence she has today demanded that they issue the final amended statement. grin Thank God we can stop playing now grin and start the real fight.

What is also pleasing is that they have my response before they have managed to deliver me a hard copy and they won't be expecting it wink

StarlightMcKenzie Fri 05-Aug-11 13:52:18

Maybe they are hoping that the 'process' will continue long enough for education to no longer be their issue!?

insanityscatching Fri 05-Aug-11 14:02:55

I think that was their intention tbh but they have 10 days or it goes to Judicial Review. We also have expedited hearings ready for failure to amend the statement and also appealing parts 2 3 and 4 whichever way they choose to jump wink
