DD2 has just left to walk to school ALONE!

She normally walks with a friend who calls for her on the way, they then collect various other friends as they go.

DD2 has never actually left to go to school alone, only with friends (she goes out on her bike/scooter/to the shop alone). She has major school panic. If her friends aren't walking then she normally either refuses to go, has a big paddy and then I drive her.

Yesterday friend was ill so DD expected her to not appear this morning and was getting all tense about it but amazingly she has gone!!! shock

I keep expecting her to appear having only got part way but still, progress!

oh, well done dd2! that is brilliant progress - being tense from the anticipation, but then dealing with her emotions and going on her own - fantastic!

Is there a way you can celebrate it for her (favourite tea after school, maybe?) or woudl she hate the fuss?

she'd not like me making a fuss but i will tell her she handled it really well. grin

shame (in a way) about the no fuss, but sometimes a well said (and meant!) "well done" is all that anyone needs smile

I always knew (as a child - and adult - who hated a fuss being made) when my mum was particularly proud, adn all she said was a quiet "well done, silverfrog".

My DS went to the park without an adult present on Friday, its a big achievement for him he is 11 and never goes anywhere without a grownup!

He even had a child knock for him to go out as well another first. He was so chuffed and so was I long may it continue!
