I have a job interview tomorrow morning.

I am on carer's allowance for DS but I do miss working, saw a job advertised that really appealed to me and thought what the hell apply for it and see what happens.

I am now:

A) panicking about the interview itself (whish is a group task, then interview, then written task). Haven't been to an interview in years
B) wondering how I will logistically manage to get there, have enough energy, etc
C) wondering how DS would cope with a childminder

eek.

Oh and then in the afternoon I am meant to be hosting ex and his fiancee to try and explain how important it is for DS to have routine and not have things sprung on him.

Have you worked out how your job will affect your CA yet? I've been job hunting without much success but I'm a bit worried about getting the rules wrong about earnings levels and ending up having to pay a load of money back, so considering cancelling my claim for CA if I get a job.

My lone parent advisor told me if I worked 16 hrs at minimum wage I would be able to keep my CA, if I earnt more than this I would lose it. The job description had wages for a FT salary and the post s only PT so have yet to find out what my earnins would be. I have my lone parent advisor's phone number to call her when I get the earnings details and she is going to run the numbers for me.

I would be happy to break even in terms of wages compared to current incomings as I feel it's not just about the money but about me having a bit of an identity too and keeping some paid employment on my CV. Obviously I wouldn't work for less thanmy current income. It's just a case of weighing it all up I guess.

The job is for a keyworker in a new charity ran day centre for people with autism.

I think you can earn up to £100 a week before ca stops.

The £100 is NET income, so after tax, NI, and half of any pension contribution.

Also, you can deduct the cost of childcare, pound for pound, for up to half of your NET income.

So, if you earn £200 per week after Tax, NI & half of your pension payments, then you could pay a childminder £101 per week to care for your child, which leaves you with an income of £99, so you can still receive Carer's Allowance.

What Lougle says about the wages. Your Lone Parent advisor sounds a bit vague.
!6 hours is the cut off point for JSA (and possibly income support, dont know much about that). If you work 16 hours or more its classed as full time and the JSA stops.

I'm not on jobseekers as do'nt have to be looking for work - just miss working! I do receive some income support though on top of my carer's so maybe it is that that the advisor was referring to?
