....at the school we preferred. Well, it's the only provision locally (unit at mainstream), but places are filled quickly, so we've been very lucky to get one at this late stage for transition to Y7 in September. I think they knew if we didn't get it, we would have definitely went for a more expensive, independent option for which we'd have stood a good chance of winning at tribunal, but she'd have had to board which we don't feel she's ready for, so this is the best outcome for her. Just have to iron out the creases in the statement now which could still end up at tribunal, but we hope the next proposed statement is better than the first pitiful offering leaving less for us to fight for!

Well done! I'm so pleased for you and little Aero.....

Is it a SpLD unit? Or na ADHD unit?

It's a SpLD/Speech and Language unit Indigo. Caters for ASD and Dyslexia specifically and also 'vulnerable learners' whose needs are more complex and don't quite fit the criteria for the other needs. We're so pleased and so is dd! Got the next proposed statement yesterday and it is miles better than the first draft (and several pages longer) - her needs are much better documented. Will be going over it with a fine tooth comb though this week to make sure all that needs to be detailed there is there. The staff are very experienced at the unit though and I believe they know what they're doing and genuinly care for the children in their care which is invaluable and I hope will do dd's confidence good. The best thing is that she will not feel alone with her difficulties anymore.
