Hi all, I need your help all those who use makaton.
I am making a visual timeline to use with all the children I work with at Preschool. We want to use real pictures with the symbol in the corner which I am planning to makeHmm.

However I have to buy some kind of package from makaton and I need to know if the core symbols will be enough. We need things like palytime, register time, snack time, home, wash hands, you know the kind of thing.

I am desperate to get this moving so hope someone is around who can help.

you might find this for signs and this for symbols useful, it's a list of what vocab comes with which resource.

Sparklebox have lots of free nursery VT symbols but I guess they are not makaton ones

Thanks agnes I have looked at many alternatives as we could [as a setting] do without the cost tbh. But I really need to be able to use the symbols independently, to shrink/enlarge them to make them fit where we want them to go.

It is a pain that we have to buy the Cd's but none of us have a scanner that is capable of making decent copies of the ones we have been given which are A4 size.

We decided to stick with makaton so that when we are using the symbols with SN children they will be able to transfer their communication method easily into other settings.

Also take a look at do2learn, I can't link from my phone Hmm but weuse a lot of their stuff, much of it is free to use, we don't subscribe and just use the public use stuff, lots of it and good quality Smile
