Evening ladies.. RL have been a bit busy but tell me all so I can catch up here with you folk.

Wine is on the table, nibbles are out and I'll be back later when I've done the hits that need doing :)

good to see you back Smile

well, we got dd3s new statement finalised last week with all my amendments accepted Shock and her new school named for september Grin finally she will start to get an education!! Transport has been agreed so we just need to sort transition and buy uniform, I currently have this face Grin

dd3 went to chessington with the children from the base at school this week, curtesy of the rotary club, she had a fab time and was so happy when she got back Smile

I'll add some gin and tonic to the table, after last weeks gin thread I discovered it's a health drink so I may have to partake of a few glasses to check.

Gin is a health food? Fantastic, I always knew it was good for you. Wink

Nice to have you back Brownsugarshortbread, your new name is as tasty as your old one!

Great news for your DD3, Ninja. When does she start? Sept?

We had a lovely holiday in Turkey, once it stopped raining! DS2 had no major issues at all, just found the pools a bit cold until the weather improved. Should've taken his wetsuit. (to Turkey?!)

He had another transition visit to his soon to be new secondary school, took a camera and took detailed photos of the computer room! Grin

Hello all, Ellen - glad to hear you had a good holiday. Ninja - Gin is healthy. Yay! I knew it was good for me.

Things have been quiet here with DS although I'm coming unstuck a bit with his behaviour. I want to get someone from the local peer support group round to give advice to me and DH but he's not keen.

Anyway, not long now till I can crack open the vino and settle down for a quiet night. Hoping beyond hope that DS will actually go to bloody sleep for once!

Hey up folks

First of - fantastic news Ninja - you will be able to relax and enjoy your summer hols now knowing dd is all sorted. Grin

Ellen, glad you had a good holiday. How is ds feeling about his new school now? I think the computer room would have sold ds1 on it straight away. Grin

Gin is my current favourite drink - I have a bottle of Tanqueray that dh and the boys bought me for mothers' day, but think I'd better not partake this evening, as I don't think my poor old tum could handle it.

Found out today that the second half of ds's teacher share from this year is going with him into next year. She's lovely and has a child with AS herself and most importantly of all, ds loves her, so that's a small positive re transition to y5.

I have a thread tonight about social groups for children with Aspergers, as I'm trying to find out about our local one for ds.

Had a meeting with the Inclusion bod about ds's SA application at the beginning of the week. In our LEA you have to complete a mahoosive application form with an attached report detailing just about everything, plus a parental request questionnaire, which is 5 pages long! There was me thinking I could just bung off the IPSEA model letter in the first instance.

Anyway the upshot is that the school are putting together a request from their point of view whilst I am writing mine, then we are all going to meet and create one 'super application' with hopefully no holes, which I will then send as a parental request. Meantime, we are churning out as many social/communication slanted IEPs as we can between now and the end of the school year to shore up the application.

We have a meeting next week to nail down exactly what support ds will be getting between now and when he gets his statement. (Note the positive thinking! Wink) The inclusion teacher said there have been some positive sounding rumblings regarding the possibility of some 1-1, but probably not much - we shall see next week I suppose.

brownsugarshortbread evening! Thanks for the nibbles and heaven knows the wine is always welcome (as are you! LOL) Grin

ninja glad your dd's statement is all sorted! and I had no idea that gin was healthy.

ellenjaneisnotmyname happy to hear you've had a nice holiday! and a safe return as well. LOL at your DS taking photos of the computer room. Is he looking forward to it all then?

babyheave hope you can get some support. Your DH isn't keen? Any particular reason? (and I don't mean that in a "prying" way, just curious - I know my DH is a bit paranoid of social services poking their head in as you hear so many things)

We have received the updated (at our request) version of DS2's statement and are currently looking it over. OT and wheelchair services have approved the Maclaren Major and have ordered it for us and it will be delivered as soon as they get it. We're thrilled as it will make it so much easier to get DS2 out walking a bit as we don't have to worry about him getting worn out or refusing/being unable to walk further and having to carry him (my shoulder is still aching!).

Haircuts tomorrow for the boys, so tomorrow afternoon is bound to be a bit hair-raising Grin (sorry, couldn't resist that!) as DS2 always has a slow but steady trail to meltdown afterwards. (I'm going to buy some chocolate to have on hand for myself tomorrow night LOL)

Hi Triggles,

Great news about the MacLaren Major, anything that gives you more freedom has to be good. Hope its delivered quickly.

You've just reminded me, both my boys need haircuts, but I've forgotten to book them in and they definitely won't have any appoinments left now - doh!.

smileANDwave, that always happens to me, as soon as the dcs start sleeping for a few consecutive nights, I seem to lose the ablity to sleep myself - so frustrating.

Dh and the dcs are going shopping for my birthday presents tomorrow - now that's forward planning for you - its my birthday on Sunday! Apparently they are going to bake and decorate a cake for me as well. Shock

smileAndwave sorry to hear you're having sleeping problems. I always have horrible insomnia when I'm stressed, so combine that with DS2's poor sleeping habits and I'm getting by on about 3 hrs a night. Hmm Hope you can get some sleep soon!

Well I won't bore you on just how awful the weeks been SEN wise because that's been done to a death already Sad. Elsewhere dh's levels have shot up indicating that the chemo is no longer keeping things at bay so there is to be a review and then the possibility of aggressive treatment which should start at the beginning of the six weeks holidayHmm so should make life even more interesting than it already is.Dd though is doing brilliantly and very happy and getting so independent it scares me sometimes.

Hi everyone,
Think I should name change to 'languidwaveand sign' as I have had my 3 days away sans everyone, and actually read a couple of books and did cross stitch and didn't watch CBeebies! (sign does happy little jig round room.)

This is just a wave and run, as I couldn't let the Fri night thread go un looked at, (sad woman that I am.) but I have promised to watch Dr Who with my DH, (we are both fans but he does a Dr Who blog where he is reviewing an episode a day from the start and we have just got to colour episodes.... (Ah, just had a thought.... If anyones DC's are Dr Who fans pm me and I will send a link to the blog, won't put it here in case it seems like advertising,)

Anyway Hi and Bye, I will read up on all the news tomorrow...

signandsmile hiya! wow! 3 days without CBeebies? You HAVE been living it up! Grin I would love it if you pm'd me the link to the blog - my DH & I love Dr Who!! Thank you!

asdx2 oh no, so sorry your DH's going through that! Do you have family or friends in RL nearby that can help you out during that time?

moosemama · 10/06/2011 19:38

asd, so sorry to hear about your dh, do you have some support to help you through the holidays?

You are having such a tough time of it at the moment, it seems like whatever I say it won't be enough, so I'll just send you a great big ((hug)) instead.

moosemama · 10/06/2011 19:38

sign, I am sooo jealous - 3 whole days without CBeebies! Envy AND reading an actual book! double Envy

We're both fed up that Dr Who has finished. Felt like a really short series this time and its the only programme we watch. Sadly, its pretty much the only thing we do together these days as well. Blush

I have some lemon sorbet, but no chocolate. Sad Sorry state of affairs for a Friday night. We've also run out of decaff, so I can't even have a cuppa. Harrumph!

Well no support but my three oldest will help out as they are really good kids so we'll manage, we'll be fine I'm sure. I try not to think about it tbh and it could just be a blip, he's had them before although not as big, but we'll deal with whatever when it happens I suppose. You don't get a choice do you?

moose, great news re school, sounding really positive. What cake have you asked for Wink happy birthday for sunday Smile

triggles, yay for mac major, it'll make life so much easier and there's a lady on ebay who makes fabric covers quite cheaply.

asd, have been following your story, they are behaving appallingly, hope your solicitor has some good ideas. Didn't know about your dh, will keep everything crossed for you all.

sign, you lucky lady, sound heavenly, I love reading and xstitch but never get enough time in a row. Yes please to blog link over here Smile

I feel the gin is working Smile it's definitely good for me and I've added lemon so no skurvy here!

Hey, babyheave, moosemama, Triggles and smile. I got a bit sidetracked by the G & T thread and now want to try lots of different types of gin. I think minitures may have to be the way to go...

Babyheave, what's a peer support group?

Moose, I think he's looking forward to secondary school, but he doesn't really talk about anything that's not day to day stuff or his latest obsession. Your social club sounds good. Nothing like that around here. I think it would be good for my DS to meet some like minded children.

Triggles, good news on the maclaren major, and the piano!

Smile, good luck with MIL!

triggles, the seat isn't cushioned at all, just fabric. The lady on ebay sells covers to go over the top of that, they are slightly padded.
