Sossen workshops

Has anyone been on the Sossen workshops, there is one next Saturday in Somerset and I am thinking of checking if there are any places left, has anyone got any personal experience of attending a previoous workshop?

I've been to a couple and thought they were excellent. My one complaint was that they were courses all about disability but delivered very much with a presentation bias (i.e. people standing at the front and delivering a lot of information at you with not much opportunity to move around) and so not using a range of learning/teaching styles but that might be unfair as they are an extremely generous and hardworking charity and my favourite in this area by far.

They give you hope and drive like none of the others do, - hard if you have a fall though.

Thanks starlight will see if there are spaces sounds like it would be well worth while, thanks for your feedback.

Think I know what you mean about having a fall after having a boost but thems the risks, and I think that when you have children with additional needs you get used to falling and having to pick yourself up again on a fairly regular basis, sadly, due to the systems we have to work within.

I've been to a couple too and found them extremely helpful.

Like Starlight said, the workshop was delivered by someone in the front of the room and there was not much scope for discussion etc. However, the SOS!SEN people were always available for advice any time after the workshops and put me in touch with someone who lives in the my area (not London) who was extremely helpful. They were also very helpful in recommending professionals etc.

Definitely would recommend them.

thanks tryingtokeepintune the support afterwards sounds fab and it sounds like SOSSEN really is an organisation who wants to support parents, I have to admit I'd never heard of them until I came onto mumsnet so I'm glad I did.
