Mr Justabout - you are too kind. It was genuinely a real pleasure to meet you all. I have been so exhausted of late that I was in two minds as to whether I could stretch to a meet. I am so very glad that Justabout and I didn't simply sneak off for a coffee. It was a real treat to spend time as a family with another family who were so friendly, gracious and relaxed.
You really ought to be pround of yourselves and your children - you were so amazing with them. So respectful in dealing with their needs. Inspirational, really.
On the way back today, I remarked to JA that that you could probably identify the families with/without special needs kids by whether or not meet ups were complicated or not.
If you're meeting families who don't have to worry about special needs at all, you spend your time apologising (or worry about what they'll do so you'll have to apologise).
If you're meeting families who do have to, you start by exchanging the ground rules for the different kids and then just let things ride from there. (Normally the question "what will make your kid really 'freak out'" doesn't come up.)
Today was lovely, and really easy from my point of view.
