Well we got enough snow to justify not going to school.. So we put the tree up and played in the snow instead!

Sounds like a lovely day!

I have been ill all week with flu and a chest infection, at one point thought I might have swine flu. But over the worst of it now and fingers crossed the DC don't get it.

DC broke up fro school today, DS2's 1:1 gave him a lovely Wall-e puzzle and Wall-e toy. He hasn't put the toy down since he got it.

well it started snowing here about 11.30 and didn't stop till I'd got the dcs from school, car sliding all over the place, and then the sun came out and the roads cleared Xmas Hmm

Feeling very down about DD. Term has finished and she has made progress this term - thanks to moving school and vision therapy.

But she is still so far behind. She is in year 3 and is working at least 2 years behind where she should be.

Will she ever catch up? Will she ever learn to read and write?

I can't bear waiting and waiting to see if she does or doesn't make progress....

(she has no SN btw)

Yuk! I have the begining of dds bug that she's been off school with all week!.. And dh won't be back from work until it's seriously icey tonight and is out first thing tomorrow too ( down side of winter weather).

Dd is now bouncy and I'm flagging!

Indigo.. Ds2 was 4 years behind.. Now he is only two.. It's a bit of a slow process.. But little steps forward and she will get there! ( with the dyslexia)

ds1( NT) was also wayyyyy behind..but he is now aiming for med school! ( gcse mocks and predictions are coming out at A-A*..).. A levels to go.. But he's very much caught up and doing very well ( he is used to having to work hard.. So when he caught up he just kept on going past lots of his peers!).

So don't panic.. It will happen!

too tired for....fighting with the LEA, coping with DDs meltdowns, looking after other poorly DC, attending endless nativities and Christmas concerts, coping with even more of DDs meltdowns, thinking about Christmas, still having 2 days of school to go, trying to find someone to sort out DDs auditory processing difficulties, arguing with the head teacher, coping with more of DDs meltdowns....etc LOL

Boy its been a rough week! DD3 has had her nativity (VVV stressful!) and to top it all off she had a massive allergic reaction to the shepherds costume and ended up covered with the most awful rash and up half the night itching!! Thank the Lord for piriton!!!
Then she had a Bday party (re-arranged due to the snow) then today was school Christmas party. Needless to say it has all been way too much for her and it is one meltdown after another now!!
I also had a meeting with HT and then LEA officer this week about their refusal of SA...and am now getting everything together for appeal...
Plus no-one seems to know what to do about her Auditory processing difficulties...so I am trying to find someone to assess her (any ideas??? Has seen SLT who just said language within normal limits - which it is roughly speaking!)
Then DS2(NT 2 yr old!) has been really poorly for 3 days, up for large chunks of the night....
And I have had to complete job application for the permenant job where I work(currently on temp contract)
Not to mention I have had to fit in 2 nativities and a Carol service for various DC...
and for totally odd reasons the DDs school dont finish till Tues so I have 2 more days to get through before the Hols....
Sigh...

BUT I have opened wine and Christmas cake and am praying for a full nights sleep...pleeeaaasse!

right, moan over...hope everyone elses weeks have been better! Xmas Grin

Overflowing - Auditory processing disorder is diagnosed by an audioligist. Pref GOSH. Get your gp to refer you.

i'm always reading this thread and never joining in.

glad school has finished, it has been making me very sad/mad all week. ds is still well (feeling very sorry for all those little and big sick people out in the world at the mo} so i have high hopes of a good christmas, i finally finished wrapping the presents today.

can i please have some of that christmas cake. i forgot to get any when i went shopping. Xmas Grin

IndigoBell - would an audioloagist be the same person that carries out a regular hearing test? cause I have had that done 3 times for dd and showed her actual "hearing" is fine (and tbh the one I had done at local hospital was biggest waste of time EVER!)
Can anyone be referred to GOSH, regardless of location?? Obviously logistically it will be a nightmare as we live "up North"! but would travell if needs be...do they take national referrals??

Now have DD4 (NT) upstairs crying saying she cant sleep...also totally over tired by all school Christmas hype...so its no wonder poor DD3 can't cope...
and oh bum now DD4 has woken DS2...

Back in a bit!

Evening all

I just wanted to apologise for my absence on SN lately. I lurk several times a day, but seem to have lost my posting mojo.

DD1 has been off school since Tuesday with what seemed to be flu but DR says is an ear infection. She has been very poorly, raging temps & sleeping in the day time. DDs 2&3 are poorly too, and I have now lost my voice to top it off.

When I get my mojo back I will start contributing again.

Got offered the SENCO job where I work today, I was leaving to do some agency work but have decided to stay. I might make a half decent SENCO!

I will make listening to parents my number 1 priority.

Dd3 broke up today and said "thats it I am not going back there"!!
I dont know if she was joking I couldn't tell.

The lovely mums where I work bought me wine and chocolate... I am teetotal but cant wait to open the chocs.

Happy hols everyone.Xmas Grin.

Congratulations on the SENco job!

It was DS2's nativity play on Monday and Tuesday. I had mentioned to his 1:1 that he didn't need to do Mondays one as he was anxious about it, and just to see how he felt Tuesday (the one I was attending). Needless to say he didn't perform, although I am quite glad as he would have been flappy and stimmy and all the catsbum mouths and tutting would have annoyed me anyway. DS1 OTOH sang beautifully.
