Support for SEN is 6th Form

My son has ADHD and is really struggling with his level 3 work. He's not doing A levels but BTEC. He is quite capable of doing the work but struggles with getting started and understanding what is required during tasks.
My question is are they supposed to be supported at this stage? I'm struggling with knowing where to turn.
I'm just looking at some of the work he has managed to complete and he's clearly capable. The problem is that there is very little communication between parents and schools in 6th form and most of these problems manifest after hours. I'm going to go into the school tomorrow to speak with his head of year to find out if special provision should be available for 6th formers. Or whether we have to rethink his future Sad

How much support did he get whilst doing his gcses? Ds has autism and is in year 11. He is on SEN support in school and has a send plan. We are planning on him moving to a different school for sixth form but I'm hoping he would go on the sen register there and have some support.

Maybe see if you can get a meeting with the senco too. He should still be supported at sixth form if he has additional needs. Good luck, hope you make some progress.

Yes, he should be getting support if he still needs it. This may differ from what he got earlier on if school feels he has no longer any problems in certain areas but from your OP it still looks like he needs support in other areas which he should be getting.

Having said that ds1 has an EHCP and from what we can make out is not getting much (any) support either (he is first year of A levels at a further education college). Parent's evening next week so perhaps they will tell us different and in fairness ds1 has reached the age where he doesn't want to marked out as needing support so says he doesn't need it in most instances.

Thank you. I went to see the school today and they asked if he had a diagnosis Confused. All that information seems to have disappeared when the SENCO left. I need to get armed with information before I go back.
