My 5 year old is currently undiagnosed with sen but we're waiting on referral to come through.
He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth and chews it, Lego, coins etc
What can I do?
I must of reminded him 50 times this afternoon to not put things in his mouth
Sad

You can get a variety of chew toys for this purpose. Now at aged 10 DS chews gum in class it helps him concentrate and then he doesn't chew holes in his jumpers and blazer. It can be an indicator of all manor of t Sen - sensory processing disorder, hyper mobility (DS). ADD/ADHD. It may be too early to diagnose. Just get him something to chew is my advice he won't stop doing it !

Thank you! Chew bangle ordered Smile
Hopefully that stops him putting everything in, it's always a worry he's going to choke or swallow something

It sounds like he has a sensory processing situation going on, and he is getting his needs from chewing, exploring with his mouth and tongue how things taste and feel, I would suggest allowing his to do this but using rubber toothbrushes, foam letters etc, different textures, it's important for their progress with foo textures, I would add some cooked pastas, rice, fruit and veg and let him explore with these, do a food snake, hide his toys ur worried about and introduce food textues also games with slime and play dough, hiding things inside the dough so the has to engage to see what's inside, dry and wet sand etc.
