Hi. I don't know if this fall's under special needs but my little boy has been having speech therapy since he started school in September. He's just had a letter about it to say his school aren't employing the current speech and language therapy service anymore so he's been discharged but he's still not reached all his targets. He has trouble with the /l/ sound and can't produce it in the middle of words. It's ridiculous but feel I've failed him. He had a dummy when he was young so wondered if I've caused this. He also won't poo any where but his pants which is stressing me out as he's 5 and a half. Anyone else been through similar please

Hi if you have a look you will see I have posted something on similar lines. My son is 4 and is under speech therapy and isn't
Potty trained and I believe he is on the autistic spectrum and have been pulling my hair out with his potty training. On Monday I once again went cold turkey but I prepared for it this time. I bought the pirate Pete potty training books and bought a new pot and pants I also invented the pot fairy who would bring a kinder egg every day if he did a pee. Monday we had nothing lots of accidents. Yesterday nothing at play group he held it in but then when he came home he started doing small wees in his pot, he was in discomfort as he had held it in but lots of support he did 11 small pees and one big pee. He did a poo in his nappy at night and I'm sure that will be another saga. Today two more pees before playgroup.
Take a different approach to the poo and see if that works. Regarding
Speech therapy having a dummy
Has nothing to do with it and don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. I use an ap called you tube kids and the stuff on that has brought my sons speech on in such a way. And the videos are educational. You have bob the alphabet train baby big mouth honestly give it a go. I don't feel speech therapy has worked for my son at all but the stuff we have done at home has so don't beat yourself up and good luck

Also I would go to the gp and ask if they can pick up the speech and language if the school isn't continuing the employment.

We are relocating from South Africa to Cambridge at the latter part of the year and are looking for recommendations for independent schools for our 8 year old daughter and 7 year son with SEN who will need speech therapy and occupational therapy as well. Hoping for a very nurturing , inclusive school...

Our GP wouldn't do speech therapy for our child - maybe they need to have a certain level of severity be approved? I'm south of Cambridge but would look at Landmark School just outside Cambridge - I hear lots of comments about being very caring plus still paying attention to academics.
