Hi, interested in anyone who has/had an ASD child at Farleigh. I have a sixteen year old, currently in a psychiatric unit, but recently diagnosed with ASD and looking for a placement that can meet his needs.

I am particularly interested in experiences of Monday to Friday boarding, home every weekend, and how that works.

Also obviously keen to hear about academic and pastoral side, as well as other aspects of the college life.

Hi friend of mine had a daughter there who was bullied and little action taken. Her mental health was then badly affected by this and then then said they can't meet her needs. Despite then causing the issue. However I've also heard of young people doing amazing there I think it just depends on the other students in the housing and the staff working with the young people. The boarding is fortnightly so students come home every other weekend however they can go home every week if that's what they want.they can be taught on site gcse,a level and functional skills. They can also go to a local mainstream college to study btec's.

I've already answered on your other thread. The college closes every other weekend as part of its travel training for students, but some students do go home every weekend.

My son has never been bullied here although he was bullied at both schools and the mainstream FE college he went to before coming here.
