Hi,

I'm looking for advice on SEN tribunals. In particular, people who have fought their cases (successful) without legal representation. I'm looking for tips and also what I should expect.

We've appealed to the Tribunal twice but LA has conceded both times.

SOS SEN run good courses on things like this during termtime.

Know what legal test the Tribunal will apply and then give them the evidence they need to decide in your favour.

Remember. Your LA will too often not have applied the correct law - on purpose!

From what I hear the majority of LAs are behaving appallingly and disregarding the law completely. You would think some of them had never even heard of the Children and Families Act or the new Code of Practice.

Too true, SENPARENT. I recently heard of one that has told several parents that the rules about carrying out new assessments on transition from statements to EHCPs don't apply in their area

There's a Facebook group called SEN ACTION. Guy on there very helpful. He used to work for LAS so knows the tricks.
