My dsd has been on a programme called school action plus since yr3, she has severe dyslexia and dyscalculor. The school has bought in 1-1 provision to assist her however according to a letter written to my dh 'has not made any academic progress in the last year'. For a bit of background - relations between mother and father are non existent, he used to attend parent consultations but these just became unpleasant blamefests and extremely unproductive. He withdrew from them at mothers request and received telephone consultations only. The senco at the school changed last year and communications between father and school have stopped. Phone calls and emails have been sent requesting updates but it's like pulling teeth. My dsd is moving to yr 7 in September, her father would like to know how such a move is managed, what provision is made for her needs and/ if we can expect she has any form of assessment for the new school. We see her eow without fail and have done without exception since she was 2. We really need to know what is going on so we can support her schooling appropriately. Dh was married to mother and has PR.

If he has pr and was written to can he not contact that person back for a discussion? What involvement does he now have in his dds education and assessments?

Lots of involvement until this last year, (sept 2014 when senco changed). Since then very poor communication, Senco not available (understandable 9am-3.30) but request for return calls after teaching hours are not made, emails not replied to, in meetings, unwell etc etc. communications now very poor. This is the most important time and we really don't know what should be happening re transfer to secondary...

Turn up at the school after hours and ask for a meeting with head. You are happy to wait whilst this is organised and put in the diary. At the meeting ask for notes to be taken. if this is not possible take your own. Before the meeting prepare a list of concerns/questions. Stick to them and keep calm. When you have all the info you need ask for a contact either with the senco or head of year or both at the secondary school and set up a meeting there. If no progress has been made in the last year ask for a re-assessment starting with an educational psychologist. It may be appropriate to request an assessment for an EHCP. At the very leat you should expect and plan showing how your daughter's needs will be met in secondary school.
Good luck
