Can anyone tell me what 'entry level' GCSEs means?

try this

I believe they are offered as an alternative to life skills type qualifications such as the ASDAn syllabus asdan

I don't have much experience of them, but I think they are a good way to help a student leave school with something to show for their efforts and time spent there. Also a good way to avoid a student being discouraged if they really are not working at gcse level.

They're for students who are unlikely to achieve anything more than the lowest grade of GCSEs. They're more accessible and less daunting and give students a positive achievement instead of a poor or a failed GCSE, if that makes sense. Out of a cohort of 350 students each year (normal comprehensive) we put 2 or 3 in for entry level English as it's the qualification most appropriate for them.
