Hi everyone. I'm at a loss and I really need some advice. I'll keep it as short as I can. My son is 6 years old and has always displayed difficulties, motor skills, balance, spacial awareness, concentration and most recently (beginning of year 2) very violent, disobedient behaviour at school and occasionally at home but it's mainly at school. Typically when he doesn't get his own way or he has to do anything that he doesn't want to do. This kind of angry behaviour is new and concerning and I have absolutely no idea where it has stemmed from. He is a very happy boy at home and in general (until something doesn't go his way) he is very affectionate and loving. The school raised concerns from reception, about his balance and coordination, they suggested maybe sensory processing issues, they referred him to an occupational therapist who gave advice and strategies, that was about it. His behaviour was more than manageable up until year 2. Now he's on a reduced timetable of 12pm. They got in touch with the educational psychologist and again they only gave advice. I can't understand why they have not referred him to be evaluated by someone? He clearly has many issues. They've now given me an appointment with ALNCO, the head teacher, his teacher, someone from the wellbeing team and someone from TAF. I don't know why TAF are involved either and the purpose of TAF. any advice please I would really appreciate it. X
