I had a stretchy wrap when DS was younger, used to use it a lot, and I really miss carrying him I have got a woven wrap but find it too hard to tie with him in it as he is so wriggly. I can manage front carries, but he is just too heavy for them now (he is 1) and I can't hold him still enough to get him into a back carry. All the videos on youtube etc show people putting very willing, placid babies on their backs!
I tried a wilkinet and a ring sling on my back, but neither felt very supportive compared to the wrap (I have managed to use it on my back once with help, and it felt really supportive) and in the ring sling I didn't like how DS was only held in from the waist down and had nothing between his legs as when he decides he has had enough he does the back arching thing - and it's really sudden, not like he gets grumpy and then does it, so I don't have a chance to take him down first and it worries me that he might fall or slip out.
I was going to try an Ergo but have just seen a post on here saying they are not very good for back-archers, so was wondering if there was anything anyone could suggest - either a different carrier (though I haven't got the money to be trying several types unless I can borrow them) or a different way of tying the wrap sling - maybe part tying it on first and then popping the baby in?
There isn't a slingmeet locally, I tried to set one up and nobody came There is one other lady locally who I know of who uses slings but she is a ring sling fan and can't help me So any ideas gratefully recieved!
