Am 15 weeks pregnant and currently looking for a new mt. I have a handmade one which I've used for DD for ages but it's a bit basic and I'd like a nice one. What are your favourites?

Hi CharChar, congratulations on your pregnancy . I love my Kozy mei tais, I've got two, they are so comfortable and last well into toddlerhood! I also love my Connecta ssc's as well, they are just so quick and easy to put on and take off, and extremely comfy to wear .

Another kozy fan! Also frontbackandsides - gorgeous uk made mei tais.

Thanks for those, I had decided on a babyhawk last night but I do love the Kozy. I'll have a look at that frontbackandsides website when I get a chance, thanks for the name. I'd loooove a Beco Butterfly, they are so beautiful but definitely out of budget!

Theres a second hand Beco on UKBabywearingSwap at the moment - it's well worth joining as the second hand MTs are v good value.

I had an FBS before DS grew out of it and it was lovely - now I have a TaiTasi, a Toddlerhawk and a hybrid DreamCarrier wrap conversion, all of which are nice in different ways

Thanks for that, I'm a member of ukbabywearingswap but had forgotten Couldn't see the beco at a glance but will have a proper look after DD's in bed. I've loved carrying DD in what really is a v basic mt, it's so comfy and I can still carry her in it now. Will have another mooch round!

I have a toddlerhawk...well two of them actually and I LOVE them. Am thinking of getting a babyhawk for imminently due DC3, but don't know if I can justify the £££ when I already have a hugabub.

I got mine custom-made by BabyHawk and shipped over from the US and it was still cheaper than buying an off-the-shelf one from the UK...however that was well over a year ago and exchange rates aren't as favourable now. My tips (if you go down the custom-made route) would be to get the minkee lining (deliciously snuggly) and not to bother with the pocket...we hardly ever use ours.

I liked my Babyhawk but I loved JoeySlings MTs.

My favourite is a Tettitett I got a few years ago and swear I will never part with. It just hits the sweet spot for me.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I just got a Sachi Mei Tai (from here, it's gorgeous, and as a bonus it has a pocket in the front so you can put in your wallet, etc. You can get one made to your liking from here - they have tons of designs.

i used my babyhawk with ds2 til he was around 16m, only stopped cos i was pg

am using toddlerhawk alr4eady with ds3 who is only 3m!!
i would gofor toddlerhawk if u arent sure as u can always roll the bottom up for a littley and it should last until u are ready to stop wearing them.
my 4.5 year old fits in the toddlerhawk

no, i think when i had him in it he had his arms out the top

activityapple, might depend on the MT. you'd think they would all be the same, but i really didn;'t like the babyhawk for ds2, used the cwtshi nostly. wth ds3 thje babyhawk suits him perfectly

Wow, didn't know this was still going! Thanks everyone for your ideas, I'm hoping to get a babyhawk but I'm also looking at the cwtshi. I would looove a scandi but that is definitely a dream!

I also love my storch tiy, have the Inka, which do you have? Will be using that with dc2 when he/she is older and a moby stretchy when he/se is younger but want the mei tai for popability. Plus I love them!

i have inka too!
is lovely isn't it?

i used the moby tons for ds2 when he was newborn, you can wrap it and then just take thme in and out, so in some ways easier for popability than an MT i found

NappyAddict: I got my ToddlerHawks when the DCs were 3 and nearly 2, and we still use them for both now they are 4.5 and 3 (mind you, the 4 yr old is a skinny minnie).

Inka is stunning, easily the nicest one imo. I'm hoping to use the mt from about 3/4 months I think, but Moby for the teeny baby stage.

Seeing as there are so many mt users all in one place just now, let me pick your brains When I put DD in a back carry, I toss her over my shoulder with the sling under her arms. But she ends up sitting too low so the waist strap doesn't sit flat on my back and I can't move her up to fix it. Any ideas on why/how to fix it?

Just had a look on sasaslings, some lovely ones there

i tie it round my waist first, really nice and tight

then i either put ds over my shoulder, or on my hip and then scoot him round.
then lean forward and pull the sling up over him. have a little jiggle to move him down comfortably, then tie the straps

Thanks tiy, I've tried that before but the sling ended up wonky, don't know why. I'll give it another go in the morning and see if I can get it right this time I wouldn't mind but I'm sure I used to be able to get it right and I've been back carrying for a year!!
