Hi all recently returned to baby wearing dd is now 20mth was loving the closeness and simplicity of not having to get the pushchair out for quick trips. However last Wednesday I had dd in her mei tai happily chatting away until I slipped on some leaves fell forward hitting my poor dd's head on the concrete. I felt so much guilt for not having her in the pushchair, thankfully she was totally fine other than shock. I on the other hand have sprained my knee so wearing her or pushing her is out of the question at the moment a little awkward with crutches :(

I am totally terrified if using my mei tai again now and seriously considering selling really shook me up and I feel so much guilt still I don't think I can face it. I know the outcome of our accident could have been much worse

Hugs,
I went flying with DD1 in a very badly designed second hand back carrier, which flew over my head, dropping DD on her's.

She wasn't in the least hurt.

I stuck to the pushchair after that.

However, if you have a decent sling, I wouldn't ditch it. I gave myself sciatica carrying DD2 in and out of school to collect DD1.

Should have read

DD1 wasn't in the least hurt, I was a quivering jelly on a wet path.

Fortunately, there was no one else about to start panicking and DD1 has never been one to make an unnecessary fuss about small things like landing on her head.

Ouch, hope you're both ok! I used to be terrified of the same thing, until a friend went flying with her DD in the pram and it rolled into the road! Thankfully there was nothing coming at the time. At least if you fall and baby is in a sling you know they are going to be safe. However you get around there's a risk if you fall over.

Maybe try using it round the house once your knee is better, build your confidence gradually with it?
