Advice on baby wearing :)

Hello all :) I'm new to baby wearing so need as much advice as possible. I brought a caboo a couple of weeks ago my little girl who is 10 weeks now was ok at 1st she would nod off in it, but now she hates it, she hates having her head covered and just keeps wiggling about and crying. She has really good head control and I think this is the problem she's nosey. I've thought about getting a connecta as I think I'd prefer something more structured than a wrap. It may just be that she hates being in a carrier. I wondered really what you all progressed from when newborn and any other advice would be appreciated as well :).

I used a kari me when ds was tiny and it was great but like your lo he started to feel a bit constrained by it. He is now 4 months and I'm using an ergo- so comfy! He seems to like it too. They can be pricey but I got mine on ebay for £50ish (although be be careful on ebay as there are some fakes).

I've got a moby to carry 14 weeks ds about in, he has hated his head being covered from about the same age and is still too little to be put in the lotus hold. So he can face out as is nosey as well. I just hold his head when walking about and only put his head in if he's sleeping. I'm going to a sling meet next week to see if I can get something different as the moby is a pain if you need to take it off and on again if outside.
If you have Facebook you might find a local sling meet and you can try her in them before you buy.

I've missed the sling meet for this month and I can't get to a library. I don't think I can wait another month, lol I'm a bit inpatient. Because ideally I'd like something which is going to last a while as she's only 10 week's old.

I was in exactly the same position as you a few weeks ago. I bought the connecta in the end as i was desperate and coulnt get to a sling library. Am happy to say ds loves it, after a few teething problems! ( I needed to use the strap to narrow the seat because ds is still quite small). I find the sling relatively easy to use and it supports ds well - he can look around, but is also happy going to sleep in it. The straps sometimes dig in a little to my shoulders but i think that is just because ds is getting bigger, and tbh I had the same problem with the kari me just before i switched.

Thanks Toklastennis its good to know I'm not the only impatient 1, lol. How heavy is your LO? Mine was 11lb 11oz at 8 weeks and shes 10 weeks now, so do you think I'll need yo use the extra strap? Are there 2 different connecta?

Toklas make sure that the x is low down on your back with the connecta- it makes it lots more comfortable on your shoulders. Once it's on, you can reach behind you and pull straps down and move them slightly further away from your neck too. Hope that makes sense!

I was given a mei Tai and tried ds in this morning and he quite likes it. I just have to get the straps right for me, and how high up on my body and think I will use that now. I got a water proof and fleecy cover as well so will be ok to wear when it's freezing with an open coat.

I would persevere with the caboo, its a great sling! We went through a little phase where DD wasn't too keen but once she had full head control she loves looking around and often has one arm hanging out so she can "help" with the shopping :) when she falls asleep in it I just tuck her head in a little to support it.

I love my connecta. It takes a bit of practice to get it completely right - when I first tried it the straps dug in my neck, but now I consciously pull them away when putting it on, and adjust it once dd is in before tightening. I can wear her for hours in it with no discomfort. She loves it too and we get so many compliments!

A friend has lent me her connecta, it feels so much more comfy than the caboo, I did think I maybe had it too tight or I need to adjust the seat, as she couldn't really see out and I think she would prefer to have her arms out. I've looked on the connecta site and it says by adjusting the seat her arms will free up. Toklas so you have your LOs arms free?

Slumberoo do postal rental and are brilliant. I used a Caboo til she was four months and she and I both loved it. She then got v fed up and squirmy in it and tbh I found it kept slipping and was constantly adjusting it. Also found it got uncomfortable as she got bigger. We tried a few more structured carriers including Connecta but the only one that she could see out of the top of and that I found really comfy was the Beco Gemini. It's great!
