Chapped legs in Ergo?

How old is he? Just trying to work out if his legs are long enough.

Make sure he is sitting all the way down into the seat of the carrier so that his knees are higher than his bum, with all his weight down in his bum rather than under his legs, and the lower part of his legs should point downwards. So he should be sitting in a kind of M position with legs dangling downwards, bum below knees, knees making top points of the M.

LO has been getting red rubbed patches from riding in the ergo, on the out-sides of the knees and front of the thighs. Any ideas how I might have it done up wrong? I love it otherwise.
