Sling for hot climate...

My baby is due in June and living in Madrid. I would quite like to get a sling/carrier but am worried any of the wrap style ones which swathe you in loads of fabric will be too hot here in summer (30-40 degrees is my recollection of the worst days last year). Have only just started my sling dithering but quite like the look of the Ergo baby and seems like it may be a bit less fabric heavy. I've got non existent shoulders and sometimes get back ache so needs to be reasonably supportive etc. Might get one of the wrap ones later in the year when the weather is a bit more sensible. I am not sure the concept of "sling libraries" has caught on here yet (I may be wrong) otherwise I would go and try a few.
Any thoughts on the Ergo baby / other suggestions would be very gratefully received!
thanks.

An Ergo will be sweltering, especially with the insert for a newborn. I'd go for a gauze wrap, a Calin Bleu is a good bet.

Ellaroo for a wrap or mai tai types. The baby hawk is quite light weight in my opinion.

Is quite lightweight. Agree that Ergo is really really warm - it's made of heavyweight cotton and, as far as I remember, lightly padded throughout, plus the insert is super warm.

Absolutely not an Ergo for hot summer. You need an additional insert to use it from newborn which is basically like a piece of duvet. Other possibilities:

  • Calin bleu gauze, wrapsody bali breeze or other thin gauze wrap
  • Solarweave connecta

sorry to hijack but has anyone tried this one? mesh sling am in the tropics so am desperate for something cooler but it does look strange!

Also, should have said, if it is hot and you are wearing a low cut top put a muslin or something between you and DD. Skin on skin gets sweaty and uncomfortable very much quickly.

DSwas born in the tropics and we lived there until he was 15 months. I carried him the whole time. Calin bleu is great, but what I would try to get my hands on is a Didymos linen/cotton like an Agave or Marigold, or a silk Indio. Pricy but our slate silk Indio is incredibly supportive but still beautifully cool.
