Sling for big baby and mummy with bad back

Hi, I am contemplating getting a sling for DS, 9 months. He often gets frustrated in the push chair and has also become very clingy.
But I have always been wary of the expense of carriers as

  1. my baby is huge (nearing 11 kg, 91st percentile)
  2. I have a bad back (neck and shoulders as well as lower back)
  3. I like the convenience of using the pram, i.e. I am able to put stuff in the basket, DS can go to sleep for his nap times etc.

Can you convince me otherwise? When do you use a sling rather than pushchair? And are there slings/carriers out there that work for bigger older babies and mummies with back problems?

    Will be back tomorrow.
    Thanks!

have a look at this site for a little more info on slings/carriers for older babies,
and maybe the Patapum Baby Carrier

however you might find that the clingy thing doesn't last too long,

or if he is in a push chair which faces out would he be happier in one which faced you,

or is your DS starting to be more independent out of the the pushchair i.e. is he starting to crawl or cruise, as this might be making him frustrated being strapped down in the pushchair,

or have you tried giving him toys/books to play with in the pushchair, (ones which can be tied to the straps so they don't get thrown overboard)

Thanks for your reply, will certainly have a look at this site.
Luckily I can swap around the sides of my pushchair, so I will move him to face me instead. He is not moving yet. He has a few toys in the pushchair.. maybe he got bored of them so might exchange them.
Cheers!
