Maya and Freedom slings - are they the same?

Are they both just basic ring slings?

Have a 4 wk old who doesn't like being in the newborn hold - hates being all swaddled up, wants her head and arms free all the time.

We've managed a kind of burp hold with the moby I have but it's not great as she is quite content whilst dozy/sleeping but will have a huge fit the moment she wakes and can't move.

Trying a similar shoulder hold using freedom ring sling but not much more comfortable for my back than using my arms!

Was recommended a Maya but it just looks like a ring sling from the pics. Is this right?

Or anyone with any other slings they could recommend? Trying to get to a slingmeet next week

A Maya is a ringsling, yes.

Are you trying a front carry like this?

If you get it lovely tight, such a tiny baby should really feel weightless.

Slingmeet will be a brilliant way of getting a hand with it. Have you found one locally?

Yes, that's the hold we're using with my freedom sling. Although she hates having her face nestled in anywhere and will fight to get free, so the position she ends up in is lopsided. It's fine once she's asleep And i can move her back to a better position, but she's awake more than she's asleep - just wants to look around all the time.

Sure it will get better once she can face the front where she's always wanted to be!
