Slimming World

Groups? Membership?

Can anyone tell me in idiot terms what's going on with slimming world memberships at the minute? I've seen something that suggests that they still want us to pay a monthly membership fee for use of the virtual groups (which nobody seems to be using from my group) and access to the app. Is it just me that thinks it's very unfair of SW to expect members to pay the consultants wages in exchange for a massively reduced facility? I won't find virtual groups helpful and I don't even own a pair of scales!

Thinking of just leaving it for now and rejoining when things go back to normal.

It’s £2.50 a week starting from the 6th, that’s to keep online and app access, to log your weight with your consultant and the zoom session.

Though you can not weigh if you’ve not got scales and the zoom session is optional.

SW consultants are self-employed they usual work for a percentage of what the group takes.

Oh and if you don’t do this, you don’t need to rejoin when they restart your membership is just frozen.

If I'm not going to weigh myself or use zoom I'm paying £2.50 a week for the app which seems a lot. I've decided not to do it. I think slimming world will lose a lot of customers over this. I've seen people being asked to leave Facebook groups and having their access to the app removed with no notice over this. It's in poor taste given everything that's going on and makes me feel like slimming world don't care about their members one bit. I feel for the consultants but Slimming world should be looking after them not members.

I think the intention was to reduce the fees to half of normal, taking just enough to keep head office, the warehouses and what have you up and running and give consultants an income at the same time.

But the timing has been awful and the way it’s been communicated is awful.

Quite a lot of consultants wanted to support their groups for free, but it wasn’t an option. If they refuse to do it their groups will be given to another consultant until this is over.

So some are doing it under duress because they don’t want to abandon their members, some have no other income and no real options, some have left. There’s a few who seem quite happy about it, but it’s not many.

Nobody should have been removed from Facebook groups or the app yet though, the app has been glitchy since they started rolling out the new one, it’s more likely to be that to be honest.
