Nope I’m with you OP- I want a leader who is a healthy BMI and has achieved goal weight and stayed there

I have nothing against this lady. She used to be a fitness instructor and slim and now she is very large.

That's entirely up to her. But it says to me " eating disorder"

God knows I have done every bloody club over and over again and now I'm bigger than when I started. Does it really work? Long term?

I take it that by 'large' you mean overweight or obese.
Dieting can help you lose weight in the short term.
If you want to lose weight and keep it off you need to make lifestyle changes.
For me, the biggest problem with dieting was it made me think about food all the time. Before each diet, I'd pig out. Low calorie meals tended to not be satisfying.
I no longer diet, but I choose my food carefully in terms of will my meal keep me going without being hungry again in a couple of hours.
I do a sort of 8:16 eating pattern with meals tending to be veg and protein based. Something like a cooked breakfast and a huge salad for lunch. Realising that I did not need an evening meal was a lifechanger. If I exercise a lot that day, then I might have a light supper.
I don't eat out or have takeaways, and generally avoid crisps, cakes and biscuits and similar things because they make you even hungrier.

By cooked breakfast I mean something like scrambled eggs with quorn sausages.
I am usually starving at breakfast time.

I suppose I meant obese? I'm sure your way is good Mike, long term

I'd have a look at the 16:8 types of eating. I find the not eating after a certain time of day works for me - if i reached for crisps or a biscuit or cake I'd eat the lot because that was what I used to do, but now I tell myself, no it's too late in the day. I really need satisfying food earlier in the day and I eat a lot of veg.
I would also recommend that when you reach your target weight to not eat the same amount of calories day in day out. I'm not an expert or qualified in any way, but I think it slows down the metabolism if it is very low. I did a very low calorie diet once (330 cals a day) and I had no energy at all but I lost a stone in a month. It wasn't something I'd want to do again - it was like being ill.
Good luck.

I had a look at Sofie Hagen as recommended on another thread. I'm sure she is talented and happy but why do we have to be presented with extremes?
Either the dumb class or the obese feminist?

A group I used to attend had a large leader which didn't bother me, what did was each week she had the nerve to ask what had went wrong with our week because we had only lost 2lbs that week and would lecture me on how we must be having a binge day otherwise my weight loss would surely be greater! But then if Pam from the group had gained or maintained from cheating all week she would treat them like a super star, I stopped going to said leaders group as I found she seemed to pick on anyone smaller than her but would big up some one like herself 🤔

As a PP said, maybe this leader has lost weight already, and is still on her SW journey to target.

Most if not all slimming world teachers still attend class themselves.

Also they are human and life gets in the way.

I had a teacher who had his own class and rejoined the same week I joined. He was heavy but still compared to his "before" board was definitely thinner.
I didn't judge but found out over the following couple of weeks he had only just started back taking his classes following the death of his child from cancer. It was heartbreaking. Within a few months he'd lost his weight while still taking our class.

The lady I refer to has been on a journey from slim sporty type to large and now has journeyed to very large/obese.
Not a good role model.

The trouble with the SW journey is most people take the road trip and then go into the fast lane on the way home.

Would you have a hairdresser who had great big chunks missing out of his/her hair? Would you get your eyebrows done by somebody who had tatty mishaped eyebrows? Would you let somebody who couldn't string two words together tutor your child in English?

Yes but you are a person trying to become more healthy and brilliant for you. I never , ever intended to cause upset.

The leader is just that , a leader and as such should be inspiring.

Anyhow best of luck all slimmers. Sorry for me I have joined a million times and I am now fatter than ever.

@orangecushion it may be 'mean' but it's common sense to most people. Why would you want to be obese when you can avoid it?

But I do agree OP, I wouldn't want a fat leader either (not that I agree with slimming world and it's faddy rules).
I'm a qualified nutritional therapist and the diet they encourage plus use of sweeteners etc is bull.

Cold weather that was a nasty thing to say.

Coldweather you shouldn't be any sort of therapist if you are the sort to make comments like that to overweight people.

Report
Whatusernamecanihave · 30/01/2019 10:11

Cold weather isn’t wrong, I’ve lost 6st before got to 9st odd I know what I should weigh and I’m fully aware how disgusting 15st is to some people but depression is a bastard and I’m dealing with it. I’ll change and lose the weight, cold weather probably won’t ever change and will forever be a nasty bitch with no regards to other people 👍🏻

Report
GrammarTeacher · 30/01/2019 10:11

It was beyond nasty actually! I'm an inch shorter than you and if I get down to 10 stone I'm very ill (I ended up anaemic last time despite a balanced diet). I was 13 stone when I completed the Fan Dance race. I'm fat now and not doing anything about it as I don't have the time.
You can sod right off with your 'rather be dead' crap.
