Quark vs skyr

Hi all,
I'm wondering if plain skyr is free or synned? And could i have it on an SP day?

The macros and calories are more or less identical to quark (see attached photos, hopefully) but it's much cheaper (currently 3x500g tubs for £3 in Tesco vs 99p for 250g quark).

Plain skyr is free. I believe you can have both on SP as they're protein but double check first.

Plain skyr is free. Flavoured ones are now synned.

Skyr is yogurt so you can’t have it on SP.

But nutritionally it is essentially identical to quark, so why not?

Quark is a soft cheese while skyr is a yoghurt.

Right, but that's semantics. My body can't read, doesn't work with that kind of linguistic nuance. What does affect my body and metabolism and satiety and weight loss are the macronutrients in a food. And skyr and quark are the same in that respect.

Well if you think it's the same and you are happy with that choice then go for it.

Natural yoghurt is a free food while Quark is classed as a protein food. On SP days Speed and Protein foods are the only things allowed.

I'd recommend you speak to SW HQ if you have an issue with it!

OP, I agree that it is madness that they are not classed as the same thing.

I eat them interchangeably when I'm doing SP and doesn't seem to make any difference

Skyr is actually a soft cheese so really should be classified as such. However, for some reason it is being marketed and displayed alongside yoghurt rather than cheese so I guess Slimming World in their absence of wisdom have slotted it into that one of their little boxes... I would personally suggest that you treat it as Quark.

I think they’re interchangeable
