joining tomorrow...setting my target?

How do I know how to set my target?

I have done SW before and the consultant just said set it to what you think is achieveable. A lady who joined with me set hers high and made it within 8 weeks . I set mine for 11.5st which is top of BMI for my height (I was 18st, am at least that again now) but never got near it.

So do I set it for the same again? More? Less?

Could use some advice as I want to succeed this time.

I'm also joining tomorrow. What would be your ideal weight?

Oh sorry I just saw 11.5 - maybe it would be better to do an interim target which is more achievable shorter term? I know they do the 10% first, so maybe a few stone less than that.

they usually like it to be in your bmi. but if that seems too far off just set an interim target of one or two stones off. you don't even have to set a target yet. if I remember correctly.

good luck whatever you choose :)

Thanks I know that last time (3 years ago) the consultant was really insistent on us all having a target. I don't think I can get to 11.5st. Last time I got to 13.5st and was a 12-14. I can't see myself getting any lighter than that. If K have to set a target I'll do that as an interim.

I'm sure it used to say in your welcome blurb you don't have to. have a look and if it does I would report any pushy consultant to their manager.

I help with the weigh in and tell people to leave it a few weeks.

For me I set an interim target of a stone and a half then lowered it by a stone, then by half a stone until I got to where I felt comfortable.

Target is something that is so personal and setting too big a target can be overwhelming. To break it down to the interim targets can really help in a better way to keep you motivated and on track.

Good luck with what you decide.

Last time j struggled to set a target and my consultant said don't worry. This time I'm aiming for my pre-pregnancy weight.

The thing is, if you’re joining already thinking well I want to be 11 1/2, but I’ll not get there... well you probably won’t get there.

If thinking about a final target is too daunting - that’s exactly what interim ones are for, set yourself those instead until you’re feeling more confident.

That way you’re not putting yourself off by thinking about it being unachievable.

I don't particularly want to be 11.5st. That's what BMI says I have to be - and as stated above the expectation is your target is BMI.

However as I said I don't feel it is achievable for me without starving myself or more importantly that I actually want to be that size.

I felt comfortable at 13.5st, so will probably set that as at least an interim target.

Realistically I should be down at 9st, but I feel comfortable at 11st. A lot of people are amazed that I am even that heavy as I don't look it x

Thanks!

Have set interim target of 3st off by Xmas. And we'll see where we go from there. One bit of good news, I thought I was heavier than my previous heaviest, I was actually 1lb lighter. Far from great, but it made me feel a bit better and more determined Smile
