Keeping on plan whilst on holiday, any tips?(6 Posts)
Hi all, joined SW 4 weeks ago and I've lost 11lbs so far which I'm very happy about!
However I'm going away for half term to an all inclusive, travel agents telling me I can order 2nds and 3rds at both buffets and sit down restaurants any survival tips???
I'm so pleased with my loss so far that I don't want to put it all back on! I know the food isn't going to be cooked in fry light but if anyone's been on sw and come back at either a maintained weight or lost any please let me know what you did?
I would avoid cheese and creamy sauces. Lots of salad, steak, grilled meat/fish, roast chicken. Stay away from the chips and ice cream.
Thanks Molly, I'm hoping there will be lots of fruit and wholemeal bread for toast in the mornings, steak would be lovely, i'm going to miss the slimming world chips . I haven't really craved sweet stuff maybe I'll pack some hifi bars just in case I'm tempted
Portion control! A portion of rice is about the size of a tennis ball. For potatoes/chips it's about the size of your palm. For most cooked meats, it's about the size of a deck of cards. It might help to choose the smallest plate/bowl you can find at a buffet. It might mean taking a dessert plate or kids plate. I've seen people take their own too.
Eat slowly and listen to your body when it starts to tell you it's had enough.
Have a glass or two of water before each meal to make you feel less hungry and therefore less likely to overload your plate.
Before you enter the restaurant, remind yourself what you're aiming for and all the hard work you've already done. It might help to take an inspirational photo with you.
If your family want dessert, you could just have a coffee.
Don't go with the attitude that you need to get your money's worth just because it's all inclusive!
You can go back for 2nds and 3rds ...... do you need to? 2nds of a main course may be a better option than dessert.
You don't have to have 3 square meals just because that's what is served. Brunch .... early dinner / late lunch.
Same with alcohol .... boring as it sounds, you don't need to drink everything on offer.
Ultimately your choice though. Don't blame the hotel or the all-inclusive basis 😂
I went All Inclusive last year. I gained 5.5lb and lost 5 of it the following week. Tbh my food choices were fab. I know it was all sangria 😳. I don't normally drink.
