When can you leave SW?

So I've been told (by a not so reliable source), that you can only leave SW once you've reached your target weight?

I am 1 stone and 4lbs away from my target, but I feel now that I would be happy stopping once I've lost 1 more stone (already lost 2 stone).

If this isn't the case, do you have to give some sort of notice?

Thanks!

You can leave whenever you like, just don’t turn up to group if you don’t want to go...

You can leave when you want. You don't have to wait until target.

You can change your target to whatever you want before you reach that weight. If you don't want to leave then up it a bit to 1st left to lose.

I just walked away from mine, no one ever contacted me (one of the reasons I left was that it was cliquey and not very welcoming so I wasn't surprised).

You can "call target" at any point. So, if you want, you can lose one more stone then say you're happy. You can drop by meetings if you want after that and it's free as you'd be a "target member". Alternatively, you just stop going. You haven't signed a contract.

I went to my first meeting today and was told we can only miss six weeks a year without having to pay. The consultant said if we miss more than that we have to pay the missing week’s fee when we next go - so I took that to mean if you’d used your six, and then missed two sessions then went back, you’d have to pay £15 to return. So is it the case that if you left then went back they could try to charge for lots of weeks? I’m not planning on leaving any time soon, but it got me wondering.

(Also, I did have to sign to say I agreed with the rules, so perhaps not exactly a contract but still an agreement to pay)

I stopped going because I couldn't afford a fiver a week at the moment. I'm still doing the plan and losing weight!

donkey you can book 6 weeks holiday so it has to be a planned absence. I think you would have to pay the joining fee again if you left and came back. What you signed was a contract btw!

The six weeks donkey is holiday weeks. As long as you give your consultant notice then you can claim six weeks as holiday where you don't have to go to a group and you don't have to pay. If you buy a six or twelve week countdown you have to advise them of any holiday weeks you want to take over that six or twelve week period at the point of buying the countdown, and they add on an extra week for you.

If you don't claim a holiday week, but don't go to group, then you have to pay for the missed week the following week, so 2 x £4.95. But also bear in mind that you can go to any group to weigh in, so even if you're actually off on holiday somewhere (but still in the UK) you could go to a group wherever you are to weigh in, if you wanted.

Most groups seem to observe a 'miss three weeks and you're out' rule, from my experience anyway. You're free to leave at any time though, you're absolutely not tied in to any contract.

If you want to be a target member then you just have to have lost at least 7lbs, then you can set your target. You then get free membership, but have to stay within 3lbs either side of your target weight. You also have to get weighed at least once a month. You can lower your target, but only by a minimum of 7lbs. If you go outside the 3lbs either side then you get a week's grave to get back into target, or you then have to start paying again until you're back in your target zone.

Yes, I thought of it as a contract - I was just saying that in response to @marmaladdin’s comment that there wasn’t one.

You can weigh in any time you like, but you can never leave...

A week's grace, not grave 🙄
