Slimming World

So, 4 stone to loose...

That's the reality. No hiding, denying or avoiding.

Started SW (again) this morning, resolving to actually stick at it. The amount I need to shift has come as rather a shock, so I'm planning to keep that in mind when I want to give up.

Anyone out there with a similar amount to loose?

FFS! Lose, not loose (x2). Clearly the shock has addled my brain.

I'm the same. I want to lose 4 stone.

I struggle with breakfasts because I'm not a big eater in the morning and the slimming world options are not something I want to put anywhere near my mouth.

Me! My goal is 4stone as well. Last time I weighed myself I was 12st7lbs and I'm 5'5. I haven't been able to weigh myself for about a month as ds broke our scales.
Have agreed to join slimming world with a friend on 12th September but I've been researching the diet loads so am currently on a pre-diet diet using the SW principles and MFP.
I have never ever done slimming world or weight watchers or anything like it before. I've usually turned to a meal replacement plan (slimfast, Exante etc) or Atkins etc when needing to loose weight but they never last beyond the first 4 weeks. It's hard to understand the idea of loosing weight whilst eating chocolate because it's completely not what I'm used to. I keep having dreams that I go for a weigh in to find im gaining lbs because I'm eating more food then ever.
We have a holiday booked to Florida next summer, will be the first time the dc have left Europe so a real once in a lifetime holiday for us. That's my goal and what will hopefully keep me motivated - a wardrobe full of shorts and summer dresses for the holiday.

How's your day going so far? I had overnight oats for breakfast (1cup Quaker Oats, a muller light strawberry youghurt ans 5 strawberries), planning a mugshot and Apple for lunch. Have a couple of boiled eggs for snack and homemade paella for dinner.

Hi queenoflouisiana 👋(waves)
I joined SW 5 weeks ago after realising is had enough of been obese. 18 years of it to be precise. I set a target and had 9 stone to lose. I'm already 1stone2lbs lighter after 5 weeks and I feel amazing.
It's bloody hard I will admit that but I have support from my group and OH and DCs.
I've not told anyone else because my family are all obese and would think me silly for trying to change (I kid you not)
Well done for recognising what you need to do.

fannydaggerz great name Wink
I struggle with breakfasts too. I usually just have a yogurt and a banana if I have any at all. Been doing extra easy as extra easy SP scares me too much.

Well done @Berrybakecake1 that is an amazing loss in 5 weeks!

Wow! Thank you for your responses, it helps to know that there are others in the same place as me (and a huge relief to be able to talk to people who aren't going to judge).

Day 1 ok so far- 1 1/2 syns on mayo as didn't have any light stuff in the house. Worth it though as it has made lunch taste better! Breakfast was fruit and yoghurt, not sure I'd manage on that when I'm back at work, but I have 10 days to get used to it before then.

Do you think I can manage 2 stone off by Xmas? I'm going on holiday then so thinking a mini goal might be a good idea.

I've lost over 4st since last year. Have lost 3st 6lb since January on SW. I had surgery 5 weeks ago and losses have been slow due to not being able to exercise and off work. I work in nursery so very active job lol.

It took me 16 weeks to get my 2st award so plan plan plan and it will help the weight loss. Look at it as a life style change. I've definitely changed my mindset these days and that's 8 months on x

From what I've read it's about 1lb a week so should definitely have lost 1stone by Christmas. 2 probably not unless you have a high starting weight. I've noticed the higher the start weight the greater the loss in the first week or two. I've seen some people loose 10lb in their first week! Obviously if you get a great loss like that to begin with then 2st by Christmas sounds almost do-able but if your just an average joe with a bit of too much extra then I doubt it. Remember this is a long term lifestyle change. It's not an unsustainable diet for quick results

Ok, I'll aim for a stone and looking better in the clothes I've got rather than a new wardrobe. Grin

I have 4 stone to loose too! I've just started today but not joining a group just yet. Just made a list of meals for rest of week and a list for shopping and that's made me hungry. Going to reach for the fruit bowl though! Good luck everyone!

Had 4 stone to lose.....started SW with a friend end of oct last year..... was losing weekly....then bloody Christmas hit!!!!

I allowed myself 5 days off plan but struggled to get back into it all (put 7lb on)

Struggled on til mid march!!! Then got a fit bit/back to running etc and I'm now at 2st 11lb loss.

Doubt I'll do it in the year but aim to be at target by Christmas and I won't let it get me so drastically this year!

17 pounds to go...

Well done Mumis. I also started this time last year... had steady losses and 1st was gone by Christmas. I had just started to feel better in my clothes etc and I blew it... put it ALL back on plus 5lb! I do feel determined this time but I don't find it easy at all. My worst time is evenings when I want to eat my weight in chocolate!!!

Hi Melon. I fell off plan yesterday (birthday party I hadn't thought about when I started last week) however I danced for about 2 1/2 hours so I hope that counted as my body magic.

There's no need to have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast if you don't want to, millions of options for breakfast available.

There are- but not that I had on the house! Smile I'm still at the stage of realising what we need to have around do that I can make a range of meals.

Today's salads were much improved by 1/2syn of Sainsburys salad dressings.

Hi all, I'm in the same boat-about 4 stones to get rid off!I started last week on Thursday. I like it so far but I keep thinking that there is too much allowed to eat! Do you also have a similar impression? Maybe it does make sense I am still finding out what it's all about.

Please share your thoughts. Is it really possible to lose weight when eating pasta whenever I want to? It's just too good to be true.....;-)

I'd like to lose 4 stone, but am aiming for 2 first. Is that possible by Christmas do you think? Have done SW before and I think I'd like to try it at home again first, weighing myself once a week. I'd love to have the support of this too though.

Hi everyone i started on Tuesday this week at a group near me. I knew I was obese but have avoided the scales for so long, my starting weight was a bit of a shock! I have about 7st 10Ibs to lose to be in the middle of my "ideal weight" range for my height. I've found it a bit hard, just with the booze being so high in syns!!

You need to be sensible with pasta. I would fill half plate with speed food then make sure I had about a quarter plate protein and the rest would be pasta, but usually mixed with more veg in a tomato sauce, or corgetti in with spaghetti.

I lost 2 and a half stone in 8 months on SW. I left though as I ran out of time and money but it's always in the back of my mind when cooking and playing up dinner. I have lost another stone since, by loosely sticking to plan and joining a gym.
