Slimming World

Help. Eeeeek. Did I sabotage my husbands diet by mistake??

My husband started slimming world. I'm not ready to diet. Too many stresses and can't cope with the pressure. I'm in exams and am comfort eating. Anyway I digress.

I was batch cooking yesterday and using up things in the freezer.

I made a ratatouille type dish. I used a bag of sliced aubergines, 1/2 a bag of courgette sliced and frozen and a third of a bag of mushrooms. All from Tesco freezer section. All £1 a bag. To that I added a jar of dolmio sauce. Family sized and popped it in the oven.

He portioned it up once cool and has it with rice usually. He got 6 portions out of the dish.

Have I made a boo boo by using dolmio. Is it now not a healthy meal? Am I overthinking this?

Dolmio sauces are loaded with sugar, so yeah sorry, it's not great.

Surely the beauty of slimming world is he just looks at the dolmio label and can calculate the syns. Tinned Tom's would have been better as 'free', but if he adds it in, it shouldn't sabotage him.
He can only calculate the syns if you've told him tho! Is that the issue?

Thanks. Lesson learned. Ok I will use chopped tomatoes next time. Maybe will half the portions too for him.

Thanks

They are high in syns but between 6 portions wouldn't overly bad. I use tomatoes, oregano and garlic.

I have never done SW but as far as i can see you have a load of veg in a tomato based sauce. It is hardly going to bust his diet is it?

The Dolmio won't be great but as long as he knows, he can calculate the syns and adjust the rest of his day appropriately. Not great but not disasterous either.

Bluesky - Dolmio is full of sugar so not something anyone should be eating loads of really.
The OP's husband will just need to take the sauce into account when calculating his food and syns for the day

OP - just thought: adding your own tinned tomoatos and onions also adds more speed to his meal.

It's not the end of the world honestly. Maybe it's a boo boo on slimming world but for one meal it's veg and a tomatl sauce.

I'm a reasonably healthy eater and I tend to make a massive pan of basic tomato sauce and then freeze it so I can use it on demand for chilli, stews, spag bol etc and then juat add in herbs etc. Much lower in sugar (though I find some canned tomatoes benefit from adding a squirt of ketchup in to take the edge off).

Hi. Thinking of rejoining SW. I seem to remember last time that it was only EE/SP and no Green/Red days though if you really dug hard enough you could find them on the tracker on the web site. Does anyone know if that is still the case please?
