I'm morbidly obese at 23stone and god knows I have to do something NOW

I actually wanted to join Weight Watchers as I felt it looked simpler but there isnt a meeting I can get too but there is a Slimming World one so I'm heading there

What will happen? I know I'll be the biggest there, will the scales go high enough?! I don't understand how SW works tbh, I don't get hex-a's etc

I feel like I'm setting myself up to fail

You won't necessarily be the biggest there, the scales will be fine, and shitting yourself will definitely help with the weight loss. Good luck, my bmi starts with a 4 and I really should be joining you.

Turn up at the given time and the leader will sit with you for a god 20 mins or so and explain it all. You then stay for the body image part of the meeting. The first week you will just sit and observe. At the end of the meeting they weigh the new members. This is usually once everyone else has left of is leaving. Once you have been weighed you can then set your target - what you would like to aim for. You can set interim targets if your final target is a long way off.

Slimming World has been amazing for me. I like it as it is so simple to follow - admittedly the first week or two take a bit of planning. However, I like that you can eat unlimited pasta, rice and potatoes.

The hardest part is walking through the doors to the class. I sat in the car for 20 minutes before going in.

The consultant will have a new members area set up. They then go through the plan while the other members are being weighed. Then you'll join the group for image therapy.

If you have questions ask. Come and join us on the chat thread and you can ask anything you are not sure off.

The only measuring you will do is making sure you have 1/3 speed on your plate and weighing your cheese or milk and your fiber choice.

Ask questions if you aren't sure. Nothing is a silly question and by asking it may help someone else who wasn't sure either.

Good luck x

You may be the heaviest at that group or you may not be but you will not be judged at all. They will be really friendly and welcoming. I walked into a group and weighed 26st 7½lb in April 2016 and I've kept going to group and sticking to plan and I've lost 10st 10lb so you can do it!

Well done for having the bollocks to do this.

I promise it will be fine.

Others have explained the process. If you don't know where to go when you get there, drop the consultant a text and ask where to head for. The newbie area is quite obvious at our group; a little group of chairs with the books laid out so the consultant can go through all the stuff.

You may well not be the biggest there. There will have been bigger people sign up before and bigger people sign up after you.

Go for it Flowers

No judgey pants at group at all. All shapes and sizes but everyone is there for the same reason and we celebrate the successes and pick each other up when the going gets rough. Once you have had your intro talk it will become clear and I would really advise sticking around for the group /body image session as you will pick up loads of ideas, ask questions and hopefully get a good laugh thr own in!
