Been on the slimming world plan now for 20 weeks. I have lost 35 pounds so far . I plan on losing another 6 or 7 pounds, for my target. This will take me to 10 stones 13 pounds, I am 5 feet 6 inches tall. I am still in a size 14 , and just want to get In a comfortable size 12 . But I am getting quite a few comments from DP Family members and people I work with, of how I should stop now, and not lose anymore weight. Confused

Have you asked them why?

Ignore them. You are the one who needs to chose when things are right for you x

I'm a long way off but ready for this and have a plan. I'm just going to smile and say 'actually it's on Doctor's orders'.

Actual words said are "You are looking ill, tired ,your face is getting thin" I do say my BMI is still in the overweight category (which it is) I don't feel thin at all btw. 10 stones 13 pounds just takes me in the top end of healthy range, just getting tired of saying it now. Thanks for the replies. x

OP, your target sounds sensible for your height, and it's your choice anyway.
I am a long-time target member: I am just under 5 feet 6 inches, and my target is 10 stone 2 pounds, at which I am slim, but not thin: I prefer to be near the lower end of target, at around 9-13.
I have heard members in group say similar to you, regarding DPs' and friends' comments, and the usual response from the Consultant and other members is that it's due to people not being used to seeing you at a healthy weight, also jealousy and insecurity, particularly in the case of DPs, who can feel threatened by the new look.
Hope you won't let others' comments put you off achieving the target weight at which you feel happy.

I'm having exactly the same Op. I'm 3.5lb from my target, same height as you, and just about comfortable in a size 12.

When I get to target I'd have lost 7 stone since last April. My mum insists I'll develop an eating disorder, and won't have it that I'm still classed as overweight. As it happens, my target isn't even in a healthy BMI, but a few lbs off it. I'd like to lose a further stone, but I'm fed up with all the comments.

Well done on your weight loss.

I noticed people do this when someone has lost weight. I put it down to jealousy. They don't want you to lose the weight. My sister's weight goes up and down all the time. She can be a size 8 or 16. She is also quite short so doesn't 'carry it well'. When she is losing weight she always gets people saying she has lost enough and looks gaunt. Fucking gaunt! She absolutely does not look gaunt. In fact she is often still overweight when things are said. Ive told her she didn't look at all gaunt and to
Ignore them and carry on. I'd tell her if she went to far. Now she puts it down to jealousy and them wanting her to remain bigger than they are. Which I completely agree with. That's clearly what is going on because in no way could he realistically be described as gaunt or too thin. They're just Bitches.

At 10 stone 13 and a size 14 you know they are trying to mess with you. Put it down to their own insecurities and ignore.

People are already saying to me I look "slim" and I'm still over 16 stone! I'm 5ft 7 so can carry it well I suppose. But it's because I've lost nearly 10 stone and I do look slim yes, but it's just because I'm slimmer than I used to be !

I think it is just people are used to seeing the rounder you so the slimmer version is still unusual. Also when you have been heavier you can start looking older as you lose weight and sometimes haggard before your skin tightens a bit so that are probably just worried that you have lost too much and it is making you ill. Just smile and say "I am doing well and I'm nearly at my target and actually feeling much better and more healthy but thank you for worrying".

My stats are almost identical to yours, currently at 10st 12.5Ib and 5' 6'' and my other half also keeps telling me I'm too thin. My BMI is only just heading into healthy BMI. I still have bits that can be improved so I would like to lose a little more. Maybe 10st 7Ib might be closer to what I will be happy with. However at the moment I'm officially at target and practicing maintaining since xmas and that seems to have reduced the negative comments as I've stopped pushing lower. Hopefully he wont notice when I start back up again.

I think it's usually people who are overweight themselves who do this. It's because they see you as a 'fat person' and if you lose anymore then they will have to reassess this and it makes them uncomfortable. Just smile and look confused while saying 'I'm going to get into the normal weight range for my health'

I'm getting this too! I've been told if I lose any more weight I'll disappear Hmm I've lost 3 stone. I am now right at the top of my healthy weight for my height (1/2lb under to be precise!). People are weird about weight loss. I just tell people I want to be healthy and I'm not losing much more!

I remember my friends mum was one of the biggest mums in school. I'd say she was size 18/20 but I'd never known her to be any different. I didn't see her for a few years but she went down to a size 10/12. I remember thinking (I was about 14 yrs old) she looked gaunt and worrying she was starving herself but after seeing her a few times and getting used to her new look I realised she looked great, and healthy and happy. I just needed to know the new her and not be stuck remembering the old her. I think it takes time for people to get used to any drastic physical change.
