Before Slimming World I had a big bowl of cereal with whole milk

A doughnut

Big Bowl of spag bol with cheese

A slice of victoria sponge

Fruit salad

Baguette and soup for dinner

Loads of lattes throughout the day and a big hot chocolate in the evening. Then a packet of crisps.

Overall I'd say I ate 100 syns a day and I was only two stone overweight! Whats shocked me most was the syns in my morning coffee from starbucks is 17 syns and my Friday night staple ominois pizza was 40 syns!

What are your syns shockers that you used to eat pre-slimming world?

I thought this too and so was a little disheartened when the weight didn't fall off me when I went to 15 syns a day! Ha.

I'd have porridge with milk, dried fruit and honey for breakfast and generally 2 healthy meals for lunch and dinner in the day but snacks-wise, crisps, chocolate, cake, toast with peanut butter, biscuits...i'd eat chocolate and crisps at work and be hungry after work so I'd justify eating crumpets, toast, more chocolate, etc. At least 100 syns a day I think!

Shocking really!

I wasn't too bad on the obvious junk tbh, but I ate a lot of sugary breakfast cereal, and things like cartons of soup for lunch, which appear to be ok and healthy but have a lot of syns.

And booze, delicious delicious wine!!

Crisps were my downfall. DH was horrified that his subway chicken and bacon ranch melt was 24.5 syns

I'm so glad it's not only me who has realised this!

This is shameful but, for example, a Friday looked like:

Piece of white toast with butter and sweet tea
Biscuit or cake snack
Spud with beans and cheese and butter
Wine
Curry (madras, rice, poppdum and naan)
3 double gin and SLIMLINE tonic Grin

What's that? A billion syns?!

I remember getting really cheesed off at the syns in Ryvita! 2 per Ryvita slice - I had 4 and that was 8 out of my 15 a day for what I considered a relatively healthy snack with lightest philly cheese.. I remember being really really fed up by it. I'm guessing it's the carb ratio in them if you've already had your Option B (bread etc) allowance for the day, but it seemed to me pretty harse on the old syns for something so "innocent".

I'm starting to think this is how SW works- you can eat loads of pasta but if you have a bagel that's all your syns for the day gone. If you go a little bit off plan the syns are massive. I had a thread a while ago where I polished off about 60 syns just coming home from London. I'm trying to use more free food these days as I use my syns up so easily!

Same here. I've only (re)joined recently and, now I know the 20kcal equals 1 syn thing, I keep looking at calories on things and can't believe how many are in some of my old favourites

God yes.... just for lunch I used to eat a huge white bread roll with cheese and salad and full fat mayo, followed by a bag of crisps and a bar of chocolate - that must be at least 70 syns just on lunch and I thought I was being quite 'heathly' having salad
