OK - trying to get my head in the right place to make a success of this. I need to lose 2 stone and my doctor has referred me for a free 12 week stinit on SW.

My main worry is tea - I love a cup of tea, dont take sugar, but I can't drink it without milk. Is there a limit on how much milk you can use per day please?

Also, I'm guessing sugar is completely banned, but I can't drink coffee without it. I only have 2 cups a day, but still 4 teaspoons of sugar will add up. I've tried sweetners before and hated the after taste, so can any one recommend one that is indistinguishable from sugar (I'm probably asking for the moon I know !)

Oh and one last thing - I make my own bread so is bread allowed and if so is it by weight or slice? because a slice of home made bread is a lot more than a slice from a sliced loaf.

Thanks for any advice

There is a limit on milk, and sugar but the thing with SW is you can use your syns however you like. If you want to use them on sugar in hot drinks you can, but it will mean treats elsewhere have to be missed. Totally up to you how you allocate them.

Thanks very much for your help. How many syns do you get a day ? I've debated about joining for ages, now the doctor has pushed me into it I feel kinda excited :-)

Milk is limited to 250ml semi-skimmed, 350ml skimmed or 175ml full fat per day.

I can't drink coffee without sugar either and find that the sweetener tablets in the red packet are the "nicest" still not the same as normal sugar but it doesn't have the after taste.
1teaspoon of sugar is 1syn and majority of people are allowed 15syns per day which are there to be used however you want to.

And yes bread is limited - wholemeal only and two slices from a small 400g loaf or one slice from an 800g loaf. If you want more than that, or you want white bread then that would have to be synned.

I use half spoon which tastes more like sugar than anything I've tried. Still syns but as you only need half as much it seems to work. Milk you could use as your healthy extra choice so you can get upto 250ml semi skimmed without syning it.
