Slimming World

Overall weight loss in 6-12 months?

Emilyxeliza · 18/01/2017 20:09

Hi,

Sorry to bother!

I'm just trying to get numbers on how much weight ladies (& gents) have lost at slimming world over a 6-12 month period?
My OH needs convincing that this is a more sustainable way of eating compared to crash dieting....

Thanks! :-)

I've lost just over 2 stone in 6 months. Steady lose of between 1 and 2 pounds a week and holding flat over holidays. I like it as I am still able to have a glass of wine or another treat when I want. Effectively it is a reduced fat and sugar diet and once you get to grips with a slightly different way of cooking fits into all your usual meals imo.

6 stone. Had a lot to lose though. Massive lapse over Christmas but back again to lose the last couple now. I'm strictly following in the week & allowing treats at the weekend basically.

@catcatcatcat wow I have a similar amount to lose - this is inspiring as at the moment it feels like a huge mountain to climbSad well done! Do you still stick to plan at weekend but just allow more syns ? Currently I'm having around 5 in the week but closer to 15 at weekends.

Well! When I started last January I stayed 100% on plan syn wise every single day until about April when I went on holiday. Even meals out etc I chose sw friendly options. Currently I am eating what I want at the weekend (over my syns) & strict in the week - after a year of being on plan 99% of the time I've found having weekends off works for me as I'm much happier with my weight & don't mind a 1lb loss a week. I would recommend staying on plan as much as possible, use your syns to the max if you need to.

After 2 children (and Christmas!) I was 18stone7lb in January & size 22. I'm now 12stone4lb a size 12 (small in H&M!) and much much happier. Go for it though, feels like such a big thing & insurmountable but it's not!!

Your starting weight is pretty much the same as mine cat. It feels huge and I did cry when I weighed myself - I hadn't realised it had got so out of control. But it's motivational to see it can be done! Well done you Smile

I have been doing Slimming World since January 1st 2016. I have never stuck to anything in my life so I was quite pleasantly surprised to see how SW could fit in with my life. Like somebody else has said, I was completely on plan, even at weekends for the first few months but gradually then learned that I could cheat for one day a week or slip a couple of off plan meals in the days after weigh in (weekend!) so long as I was really strict on work days. This doesn't work for some people because they're probably quite demotivated by the slower loss rate, but for me it was invaluable as I knew that if I wanted a real pizza (not a smash horror!) or real Chinese takeaway (crispy chilli beef and chips!) I could just have it as a treat at the weekend. To me this is how I want to live the rest of my life eating - having treats as actual treats, not as a Tuesday pick me up just because I got home a bit late and need cheering up! As I've continued I've also looked at being a bit more flexible - I.e. I won't look at the healthy A list to check a cheese is ok, I will just make sure my portion is no greater than 120kcal as that seems to be the limit. Similarly I do allow myself pure fruit and veg smoothies without syns as this is sometimes my only breakfast or lunch option.

I started at 13.11 in January size 16-18, lost 2 stone by September/October ish and stalled hard for about 2 months with only 0.5lbs coming off max. I kept going and am now approaching the 3 stone mark and am 12-14 in clothes. I don't go to a group or do it online, I am just very strict with myself about weighing every Friday morning.

Good luck. It's a good plan that can work really well with all lifestyles.

3 stone 6 and at target. Thinking about loosing another stone. Went from an 18 to a 12/14 and found it surprisingly easy. It's a lovable eating plan not a diet. Good luck

It's worth it. So worth it. And that's what I have to keep telling myself when I'm trying to not eat crap and make good choices!

I don't really drink much too which is useful. Good luck to you all :)

I've lost just over 3 stone in just over 6 months.
To be a total cliche - The good thing about this is that it's a lifestyle change rather than a diet so once you get used to how it works then it just becomes a way of life which is how it should be.
Btw, I'm one of those that gets sick of hearing oh but it's a lifestyle change and think to myself it's bollocks cos I don't treat it like that, I just changed from eating high fat junk to eating healthily and having occasional treats. Still got another 3 stone to lose but I'm sticking with it as it does work. 😊

I joined in May 2016 and I've lost 4 stone so far. I have had weeks when I've stalled and weeks when I've put on consecutively because of Christmas, going out etc. Two stone to go and hope to do that by the 12 month mark. On average I've lost 1.3 lbs a week.

If something has the name crash in it and isn't followed by safety then you know it's gonna be bad.

Slimming world promotes a healthy lifestyle change. I lost three stone in about 6 months through SW and unfortunately fell off the wagon around Christmas and gained a bit back. I'm now pregnant and so I've stepped away but the SW rules are still in my head as a base and so my food is still healthier than it used to be and I've lost another 13 lbs in about 7 weeks. Admittedly I have awful morning sickness but I'm eating small potions and trying to be healthier.

I have a long way to go to target. Once lockdown is lifted and things look up I will be going back to my group (with midwifes permission) as I miss it. I thought being pregnant meant I couldn't do both but once I can eat normally again I plan to try.
