i need a slimming buddy!!!(34 Posts)
I'm really struggling. My inner voice is saying i can't loose weight cos I'm too old, the kids are too young, husband works away etc etc etc, i could rhyme off excuses till the cows come home!
But I'm fat! Out of breath and feel shit about myself.
I have no support here at home as i am a "quitter"
i would live a slimming buddy or buddy to help with moments like this when motivation is low.
i sound like a self pitying looser, i promise I'm not really..

I will be your buddy. I am starting SW on Monday. I have a 5 month old baby and I am starting to put more weight on. I have done SW many years ago. What are your favourite recipes.
I love making stir fry and noodles and I love the slimming world fry. The kids seem to like the cottage pie too. I struggle for breakfast ideas.

i'm on week 2 now...impressed! i lost 7 pounds in my first week
just made sw cottage pie which was very filling
I have normally have veggie meals. It is so long since I had done it that I can't remember any recipe. I gave away all my recipe books about 2 yrs ago.

Mum I tried pats before and just didn't like them. But I love eggs so that's what I been relying on. Is there a nice low sun cereal?
I was feeling just like you OP - I thought being 51, post hysterectomy, taking tamoxifen I was doomed to be the fat one forever. I was so miserable, had done SW before, several times and didn't believe in it anymore. A friend persuaded me to join her and I'm 7 weeks in and 17lbs lighter. I feel so much better, still got 2-3 stones to go but I'm finally in control. This time I'm actually doing the programme, I realise in the past I didn't give it 100%.
At the moment my fave breakfast is scan bran layered with frozen berries and yogurt and left overnight. It's so yummy, incredibly filling and it keeps you regular!!
There's so much support on here,I haven't posted much, I'm in awe of the positivity and results on the support thread.
Read through the support thread and you will be inspired.

Morning, do you meal plan? What are you having today? I have my first meeting tomorrow but I was thinking of getting a head start. What much skimmed milk is a healthy extra?
Hi everyone. I also could do with some friends along the way! I've been following the plan for 5 weeks and lost 11lbs but the weight loss has slowed down a bit. I've found eating as much speed food as I can really helps and avoiding alcohol. I want to lose another 3 stone so am in for the long haul. I find fruit, banana and greek yog (0%) works for me for breakfast when I'm being good...when I'm hankering after something more 'naughty' then I've found that bacon medallions and fried egg (runny so the yolk is like a sauce) in a Wholemeal Thin can almost feel like a Costa All Day Breakfast panini (if you try hard enough!).

Really in need of motivation. I work 630 -3 so breakfast is a difficult one. I don't really want to eat a yogurt every morning. BOOOORINEL!!
Am trying to convince OH to buy a pooch so we HAVE to get out and walk. I love a meal plan but getting him to stick to it aswel is proving to be a challenge!
I went to my first SW meeting yesterday and have joined up for the 12 week programme. I have set my target to lose 20 lb in that time. Not sure if that’s realistic or not!
I started trying the principles last week. I quite like cooking and meal planning etc so that aspect doesn’t really phase me – so far I’ve cooked some recipes from the website – Cowboy Pie, Garlicky Prawns with noodles (except I subbed haddock for the prawns), Pasta Salad with prawns and smoked salmon and Seafood risotto. None have felt at all like I’m on a diet and can’t believe how big the portions were (we’re all greedy pigs and there was some left over!)
I find breakfast a bit tricky – I’ve got into the habit of often skipping it because I find it boring and I prefer to stay in bed as long as possible! But so far this week I’ve found time to have either boiled eggs with a slice of bread or this morning, muesli with natural yoghurt and half a banana. Very filling!
But my downfall is definitely likely to be alcohol! I’ve got used to having some wine most nights and my husband and I do like going out to pubs for some beer too! I MUST try to either have none or stick to one!

I'm doing SW from home as I'm pretty much housebound for nearly 8 months with some vertigo thing and I'm middle aged....god that sounds gloomy..anyway I lost 6.5lbs in week one, 3lbs in second week and I'm now in week 3. So I love the recipes but apologies if this is TMI but the constipation is getting worse. Anyone got any ideas? Ive eaten 15 syns of prunes today, not what I expected to use syns for 😔
I need a massive kick up my big behind.
This evening I have eaten a Turkish delight, chunky kit Kat, 2 mini bags of haribo, 2 bags of pork scratchings, packet of Aldi quavers and a cereal bar.
All this is after my lovely healthy slimming world tea. I've fallen off the bandwagon massively.
I need to keep losing weight as I found out yesterday I may have polycystic ovary syndrome and the leaflet off the doctor said losing weight is a key thing.
Somebody please yell at me or just tape my mouth up. I can't seem to stop eating.

I'm 34, busy working mum to 3 crazy kids (10,7 and 5) and I'm getting married in May! I've done slimming world before post separation from my ex husband and lost 3 stone fairly easily! I'm joining back at class on Saturday morning!!
Reindeerlilly - don't let it get to you, just put it behind you and focus on the now not what you can't change. And maybe get rid of all (or at least most of) the tempting naughties!
Moomoo - I've only just started too and it's reassuring that you lost fairly easily before - I think my downfall is going to be socialising - I do quite a lot of drinks and meals out and I do love a drink or three. If I become a hermit I may be alright. Congrats on the wedding - gives you something to focus on. But please don't stress about it either - there was a girl in our group on Tuesday that was in tears as she hadn't lost as much as she'd hoped pre-wedding - I felt so sorry for her. He loves you now!
MonaLisa69 - drink LOTS of water! Best thing for constipation, your innards will adjust but got to keep your fluid intake up. I've been doing SW since May and have lost just ovet 2 stone. I have nearly 5 more to go though so definitely in for the long haul my problem is self-sabotage, so loss has been slower than I'd have liked, but then again the way I'm eating is probably more sustainable. Breakfasts I have mini honey nut shredded wheat or mini fruit and nut weetabix. Am a bit addicted to them
I started slimming world this morning!! Yayyy!!

I went and got weighed today as didn't go to my class on Thursday and only put a pound on. I'm back on plan and feeling much better. Thanks for the kind words.

signed up few weeks back with my sis who is 19 stone
she has lost a stone and a half
I have lost 1 stone 2lbs
keep at it
count your syns carefully
cut out booze and sugar if you can even for a short while
measure your cheese and milk that can make a big difference
learn to cook sensible, fresh easy good food
my mental health has improved so much
was so down before hand it was quite shocking to be honest
