I am a hater of fruit and veg although am trying very hard to incorporate it into my diet. So my question is as the subject...does anyone know if I will still be able to lose weight with only eating very small amounts of speed food?

Yes but you won't lose the weight as quickly apparently

You will struggle because the primary purpose of "1 third speed with every meal" is to naturally restrict calorie intake.

I would say if you don't like fruit and veg then SW isn't for you.

SW meals are supposed to be one third of a plate of speed food.
Some people start by saying that they don't like fruit and veg, then they become more adventurous as they try new recipes and different foods.

I built it up.

Started with one bag bird's-eye steam fresh and a tickle of butter in a sweetcorn pea flavour with most meals, including salad.

When I could force that down I upped to 2.
Now I can do a frozen mixed veg third with almost owt.

Probably even cake.

Carrot cake wink

That's not true cece. My consultant lost four stone and ate very little speed.
I am also not a fan of speed but can manage veg when in gravy/sauce like curry or slag Bol

Thanks everyone. I actually don't mind peas and sweetcorn but they aren't speed so have been struggling. Fruit gives me acid reflux so it's a no go but I can try and incorporate more veg slowly.

I am half way through the first week so I guess I can see what I lose. Good to know it is possible even if slower.

Can you eat 'hidden' veg in sauces or soups?

passmethewineplease Wed 24-Aug-16 21:38:28

You can, but you might have better losses if you upped your speed. All depends if you are happy with your losses.

I lost 2.5st and ate little speed. That was pre DC1, Now I'm back at SW after DC3, I have hidden veg in spag bol. Find it is much easier than eating it on its own!

Good luck!

How about making a vegetable soup. I do a sweet potato, onion and carrot in veg stock, which is freezable, so if I am having a day where there's not a lot of speed, I'll defrost some soup to take to work with me.

Thanks everyone. I have done a shop today and bought some veg for soup and to hide in sauces. I will give it a go.

I had a 4lb loss in my first week so pleased with that and weigh in again Monday so will see how this week is.

chough Sat 27-Aug-16 19:08:54

whatisitlike, that's a really good first week's loss.
You must be doing it right!

Shootingstar2289 Tue 30-Aug-16 21:36:53

Yes you can. I lost two stone in two/three months doing slimming world without too much speed food. I don't mind some fruits and small amounts of veg. But there's no way I could load my plate up with it like some people do. I like carbs haha.

whatisitlike Thu 01-Sep-16 18:32:01

Thanks Chough, pretty pleased and got 3 lb second week so feeling good

That's good to hear shooting, my target is 2.5st so hopefully I can do it.

whatisitlike, I think SW can be what you want it to be: the plan can be tailored according to your preferences, in line with SW free foods and healthy extras.
You've done brilliantly, getting your half stone award in only two weeks.
No need to worry at all!

speed foods do not have magical properties do they? Its just bulk really

chough Fri 02-Sep-16 19:58:11

randomer, the magical bit is just that speed foods are naturally lower in calories, while helping to fill you up.
