Do SP days make a difference?

I am only in my first couple of weeks of SW so still in the honeymoon phase Grin . The weight is coming off well but I'm sure that can't last and will slow down. One of the main reasons I joined SW was because I could eat carbs (carb addict) however I think I should try to cut them down a bit, maybe as a way to prevent the weight loss slow down.

So I was wondering if SP days make much of a difference? Should you do a whole week at a time or just a couple of days? Do they speed up people's weight lose or do you put the weight back on when you stop doing SP (my limited experience of trying to go low carb)? Any advice gratefully received!

They didn't make any difference to me...I did 3 days of SP one week, gave up after that as I was too grumpy without my carbs! Ended up having a similar loss to other weeks.

What works for me, though, is having carbs (as in pasta/rice/potatoes) for just one meal a day, and going without for the others...

(also, I'm 4 stone 1lb down since Jan and still having good losses - 2.5lb this week. Gone from 14st 9 to 10st 8 - 8lb away from target! Would recommend drinking water/sugar free squash instead of snacking between meals if you think you're hungry - may be thirsty instead. I swear by green tea too, and often have more than 1/3 speed making up my meals. May not work for everyone but it's helped me to lose consistently! Also mixing up meals choices from week to week so you're not constantly eating the same things - I swear it stops my body from getting used to the SW plan and keeps me losing...)

Thanks for the advice Emily that's great and massive well done on your weight loss. One of the main reasons I'm doing SW is the ability to eat carbs and I'll be really interested to see how my weight loss goes. 7lbs done in 2wks which I'm really pleased with.

Maybe dropping one carb meal per day is something to think about when/if my weight loss stalls.

Will also remember about mixing meals up. I'm a bugger for eating the same things a lot so must start to experiment more!

I'm 1stone 10 down since Easter. I did an sp week last week but had things on Saturday night and all day Sunday which meant I was off plan. I still lost 2.5lbs!

You might be worrying needlessly about your weight loss rate slowing down because you love carbs. I reached target weight and started eating 2 Healthy Extra Bs a day rather than one, in addition to my usual carbs - potatoes and rice as I can't eat wheat. I actually started losing more weight and was able to set a lower target weight. My BMI is now 21, at the first target weight it was 23. I am slimmer than I have been since my 20s and still enjoying carbs, in line with other Slimming World principles.

The Slimming World plan worked effectively for many years before we had SP.
I have tried some SP days, and it's nice having the extra "b" choice, but I seem to get hungry and use more syns.
H aving one SP meal a day is a good idea, while having potatoes, rice, or pasta with another meal.
