Target member
Sat near my friend last week who said you look great
I go and encourage other members and to maintain
The woman next to her whispered back "- too thin "
I felt mortified and a bit embarrassed
I'm five foot 1 and am 7 st 12 . I'm size 4 shoes and small wrists etc .
I didn't think folk Wd say that am I feel a bit 😳

Honestly in this case, I think you need to look at the people saying it. A lot of them are just at the beginning of their weight loss journey and may be lashing out (incorrectly, which is horrible). As long as you feel happy and healthy, than what others say doesn't matter. smile

That works out to be a bmI of 20.7 so perfectly healthy- at the lower end.
People go to sw because they are overweight so their perception of what is healthy is often skewed. Add to that a bit of jealousy and perhaps being overwhelmed by how much they have to lose and they could be reassuring themselves that they don't need to get to that level of thinness.
In short it probably says more about them than it does about you so I wouldn't worry.
Congrats on being a target member.

Congratulations on being a target member.

There's one lady at our group who is tiny like you. She's also a target member. She has said to me that back when she was just starting her weight-loss journey, she couldn't contemplate being as slim as she is now...and then realised that (pre-children) she was that size and having been overweight for a while had skewed her perception of "normal".

My mum was tiny. 5 ft 2 1/2 inches (and woe betide anyone who forgot the half), and even after she'd been on steroids for ages, wasn't much more than about 8 stone. Like you, she had tiny wrists and ankles, very delicate features, size 5 feet. (And here's me taking after my 6 ft 2 inch ex-army dad, thanks genetics). People come in all different sizes...

Thanks all
I was a bit taken aback
I never Wd do a negative comment at sw or elsewhere
The person who said it is doing well herself am glad to say
I don't want to put off going but I felt as if it was what am I doing there type of thing
I feel much nite energised at this weight and I want to stay here as well as support others !

Well done on your weight loss. I an tell you it's very likely jealousy. When I first started slimming world quite a few of the target members were really slim and had only needed to lose 1-2 stone. I used I think why bother with slimming world if you don't have much to lose. But then I realised I was jealous because they'd recognised the problem earlier and done something about it unlike me having let myself get 5 stone overweight.

Keep going because it really is the target members that keep others going

I'd agree that it's probably jealousy. Well done for getting to target and please keep going to meetings. I find that seeing the target members each week is really motivational.

Hi, this made my blood boil! Sneaky comments like this (but the word fat instead of thin) are what anyone who is overweight has probably endured.
I would suggest a light hearted' not too thin but slim!" With a laugh whilst looking and smiling at the whisperer... If she was overheard she shouldn't have said it so put this envious, unkind women in her place.
